Back In Time
"How sweet to the heart are the scenes of my childhood"
Samuel Woodworth, 1785-1842

How depressing city living can be!
Why can't I be brave, pack my things and leave?
Rent a small farm and really be me.
That summer on the farm I still perceive.
The old farmer worked us without pity,
so many chores we managed to achieve.
Cousin stayed with me, she was so pretty
as we began the day gathering hay
We were so happy singing a ditty.
Eggs needed to be picked in half a day.
Soon we were summoned to have a good lunch.
After we were allowed to play away.
I ran to the garden and got a hunch,
gave to my cousin a flowery bunch.
