Autumn Love
Autumn love is aged in fire
lasting through the summer passion
and the days of blind desire
when the heart's so easily broken
by a word of love unspoken.
Autumn ages, hearts mellow
subtle as the falling leaves
many bonds of true commitment
ripen into something fine.
Autumn love is born from years
not tempered with youth’s fragile fears
strong like oak and twice as tough
living in a day of changes
it is something that is constant
always and forever growing
hour by hour of precious permanence
golden like the leaves that tumble
embers burn in settled hearts.
