As Years Flew, Fate Sought Its Reprieve

As Years Flew, Fate Sought Its Reprieve Darkest gloom I have ever known ripped slashes with evil tone A blast entering peaceful dreams with hatred bursting at its seams, Vowed to gloom, listen no more weeping heart, found another door sadden soul, sought Nature's retreat racing forth on lightning swift feet, There solitude gave life new course from world's dark black, I did divorce for long silence- its healing balm that brought sweet truth and a new calm. As years flew, Fate sought its reprieve. Cut deep, so I would again grieve. Robert J. Lindley, June 19th, 1983 Sonnet, ( As Raven Returned, Poe Simply Smiled ) Noted: This very old creation has now been presented because a poet here mentioned liking my dark verses and my oft Poe like pondering and dark-cast dreams..

Third verse exemplifies and quite honestly, it also magnifies the abysmal grief. Personifying it as though it were human and could be divorced was clever. Robert...well written, however long ago.
