Am I Not Human

A Monoku by: Ink Empress The ink of my skin doesn't define me nor does it construe my poetry. Am I not human to your eyes? Do you not see my soul inside that streaky mirror of yours ? Have you forgotten, that I have a story too? Beneath the canopy of heaven God has Bisqued me and left you white, some he even inked them yellow. We each have our own unique skin tone, bone is bone I wasn't meant to be alone. Bigotry is not acceptable in a world where our heritage is something we are born in, not something we chose. Love me as if I were your neighbor, treat me as a brother a sister, for I hunger just like you and I dream just like you Am I not human to your eyes? When you look at the color of my skin, do you see me, ...as your next of kin? By: Mystic Rose

Indeed, the way we look at other forms should only see spirit of God Himself indwelling the form and certainly not skin, colour, race, cultural background, gender, social position etc. Great message posted, Mystic Rose, warmest congratulations on a well deserved POTW ~ hope this poem is widely read

I see your soul, Mystic Rose, your questioning touched me, "God has Bisqued me and left you white, some he even inked them yellow" strong and blunt at times make for awesome poetry. Congratulations on your POTW! xo~Anaya

My heart rejoices, knowing that God isn't human. Our soul is important, as He wants all to know Him. The color of our skin doesn't make us who we are. Your thoughts caress softly around me, Vienna. So wonderful seeing Ink Empress has inspired you. Congratulations my dear friend, on Poem of the Week. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Did I miss this one? So happy to see my little prodigy inspired you.. You speak words of truth.. sad that God made us all but we discriminate on so many different things including colour.. a lot of people do not realise their privileges and their unconscious bias.. Congratulation on poem of the week my friend..
