Revisiting Brooklyn's Abandoned Admiral's Row Before It's Gone ...

my being ... lies discarded at your feet the residue of goodbye still drying on your lips dripping like lazy concern ... forsaken memories bloom like weeds about us aching for the care of kindness wilting in your poison pride impassioned moments of exquisite beauty and bond discarded with your ring and fidelity fodder for a pyre of the jilted and vacant. Cast me to the cold wind, love kick me to the curb like a charlatan, shunned it is safe there, after all the dark recesses waiting, long for the perfect tears to wash me away ... prince of the forgotten champion of all that's not romance's royal refuse ... bound for oblivion and ignorant bliss relinquished. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Thesaurus - Abandon Or Abandoned" Poetry Contest, Dear Heart, Judge & Sponsor.

"prince of the forgotten / champion of all that's not", powerful lines. A sad end to a hopeful romance with lots of empty space for the imagination to fill in or for the reader's own history to draw from. Great entry for the contest, Greg. Best wishes and be blessed ~ John
