A Weed

I am but a weed In God's flower garden Humbled to exist Even if not as red as roses Not as tall as sun flowers Not as warm as marigolds Not as thrilling as lillies But I am wonderfully and fearfully made I invite imagination And like a falling star Children pick me to Blow blue breaths wishes upon And I fly into whimsical wind To deliver the messages of hopes I start my journey as gold and then Turn white just before my flight A prize in disguise I am a dandelion.

Beautiful poem showing your humility. Though you consider yourself as a weed, in the eyes of God you may be more beautiful than a rose. As I have been away from the scene for sometime, missed seeing your POTD. A lovely poem. Congratulations Karen.

Just seen your poem and i am elated. Dandelions i call the little suns. This poem reminded me of a hymn we sang in school,'daises are our silver, buttercups our gold, these are all the treasures that our heart, can hold' I loved it and i love your poem, innocence and beauty in its original form, as is your poem. thankyou i loved itxxxjanine

Hello Karen, i dont know the title of the hymn. It was a CofE (church of england protestant) in the 1950's and it was in the hymn book we had at that time. It was my favourite. You are a beautiful, innocent, and free spirit as reflected in this your poem. Please let me know if you found the hymn xxxx

They are not really even weeds, yet people think so and mow them down. I wrote about too in the past. Good one. Oh and POTD. Congrats

Did you know that Dandelions are good for you? You can eat them in a salad. They have more iron content than spinach. Most wild flowers have medicinal purposes that people have forgotten. Nice job her Karen. Love this. God Bless, JB

Hi Karen, Dandelions are fascinating - this is why poets are drawn to them. They are like thoughts; they transform and then fly - but most of all is the human connection - children love them and I remember my grandparents telling the time of day by blowing them (a ruse I am sure). This is a wonderful delicate, spiritual testament. No such thing as weeds in my book x

A beauty to behold indeed, this remarkable flower. Watching it change from golden yellow to snowy white, is such a delight. Those wishes in the wind, may they gather again and again. Your thoughts bring a smile to my heart. Congratulations Karen, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Congratulations on your deeply thoughtful poem receiving POTD honour. We don't need to be a Rose, or a Sunflower...we are "wonderfully and fearfully made in God's flower garden". How profound and creative your thoughts are! Love and Hugs ~
