A Spring Fling
A warm morning with baby blue skies and cotton clouds
Dew glistens on green stems of watermelon pink peony buds
A Robin prances on the ground pecking at grass sprigs
As trees happily wave their fresh leaves in the breeze
Chipmunks scurry about busy stealing seeds and nuts
A flash of red and white appears with magnificent black wings
Proudly displaying his tufted fire red crest while perched on Pine bark
Drumming on the bark, then pausing with piercing shrills of his calls
Squirrels freeze then continue to chatter and chase along the branches
As Crows squawk and circle above the trees, announcing their arrival
