A Snowy Evening Walk

The moonbeams spread from high
against the midnight blue of winter's sky
so full of falling snow.
Here I am lured to go,
while paths are still aglow,
and take a walk in the small park nearby.
Now led by each lamp's ray
that shines so splendidly to light my way
I see snowflakes alight
on everything in sight
and much to my delight
watch each one grow the crystalline display.
The trees, whose arms were bare,
now lined with fluffy coats by steady care
of gently falling flakes
that pile as each one makes
snow-white designs and wakes
each branch and twig with pure artistic flare.
And prancing there alone,
amidst the swirling drifts, the wind has blown,
a deer in search of green
which nowhere can be seen
in this majestic scene
of sparkling winter-white, the sky has sown.
