A nice deep breath

I'm not sure how many times I stop breathing A jolt of a thought Takes a pause to a new place All my words stuck in my throat Choking on inexpression An in breath is dragged through Buying me time Which I use in the same way My heart aches from the effort The next lines should contrast Talk of ease of inhalation Words that dance, a head that rests Perhaps I need taking apart And putting back together

Using words wisely leads to positive emotions; however, you may as well keep those thoughts stuck in the throat if you're going to put a hoof in the mouth. Everyone tells me to try meditation, but I haven't tried it yet. I like this poem. He seems very sensitive.

Oh definitely try meditation! Or my recent favourite that I still don't actually do is somatic movement - just silly dancing really but a definite pick you up :)

Intriguing topic, DD. I can identify with the experience you're writing about, it's more about feeling a moment than think for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts through your poetry, my friend. Bill

Thank you Bill, I try and write right there and then in a moment. Once it's passed the intensity dissipates very quickly but it's interesting to see how poetry can capture it and hold an emotion. Thank you for your kind words x

I can relate to the struggle finding one's breath when feeling anxious. I guess sometimes my thoughts are enough to knock out my breath or metaphorically knock me off my feet. Breathing and inhaling as you suggested puts things in perspective. Outstanding and wise words & observations, hugs, Sara

Thank you Sara, you're right this is more capturing an emotion that anything physical (other than the pain in the chest, lump in throat). Although meditation is so powerful I rarely use it. I should resolve to meditate more. Thank you for your kind words
