Image result for moon over madness

You lay among the sheets, as still as death itself, tho' your bosom rises-and-falls with gentle breaths ... what do you dream, my darling? Oh surely, of fancies that shame this trembling night. Moonlight thru louvers paints you - slices your form into porcelain shards of luster ... I wonder, are the dark portions mine? Have you and your god avowed a share to my madness? Or are they the stripes of your lord, given in redress ... to haunt me? Your eyelids quiver, dreams rolling them forth-and-back ... please let those meanderings be of us, when we were happy ... do you remember? Oh, such love we shared those ages ago, far removed from the realities of a full moon and the fiery curse that sears my veins and marrow. How I long to press my lips to your eyes in waking, as then, but that is too close ... yes, far too close. Pray, what have I become, my love, that I long for blood over being? If only you knew the monster, here, the beast, born of flesh, that considers you now in slumber - tossing a mental coin for your love ... or life. Please, please awaken now, my darling ... drive a stake of passion through my heart … hasten, lest the hungers take me over, and you perish for the sake of this delirium ... of the moon ... and me. ~ Honorable Mention ~ in the "Strand Special 12, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 3rd Place ~ in the "Give Me Goosebumps" Poetry Contest, Nina Parmenter, Judge & Sponsor.

Oh my! How chilling it is to think this man who loved her now has thoughts of taking her life. Very frightening, Gregory. It's easy to see why it placed high in the contest. Congratulations on your well-earned win! Best wishes, Carolyn

Thank you very much, Carolyn ... I've never been a huge vampire guy, but I seem to enjoy writing in that "vein", (sorry for the bad pun, lol) ... I have a longer piece called "Last Rose For A Rebel", which is a period piece that takes place in N'Orleans after the Civil War - I had fun with that one, too. Blessings and thanks to you, my friend! :-) <3

The moon certainly lures the monster, creates a frenzy and its thoughts are dark and creepy while the beauty sleeps perhaps for eternity! Goosebump, indeed, Greg! Congratulations on your trophy win!

That's very sweet of you, Connie, and I thank you so much for your wonderful comments - I'm glad you enjoyed this one! Honestly, I didn't think anyone would like this - that it was a bit too dark or campy, so I'm pleasantly surprised by the placement and comments - this was so much fun that I think I may continue the story, (or perhaps preface it), or try something similar. Blessings, Dear Poet! :-) <3

Greg, I seldom give two firsts but I was torn between your exceptional and artful fiction and Carrie's memories of reality. So well done in its form and clever metaphor. I'll sleep tonight with my garlic and mirror and also dreams of undying love.

I so appreciate that, Craig, and I know you seldom do so ... I'm so pleased you enjoyed this and found it worthy - to be on ANY list with Carrie is an honor, as she is one of my favorites, and I aspire to her level of creative excellence, (as well as yours). This was a very different direction for me, but I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I may continue this story, (or write more in this "vein"). Many thanks and blessings, my friend! :-)

Congratulations on your #1 win. My, oh my. A darker sensuality as I've read from you, and I like it. Thought-provoking too. :)

That's so kind of you to say, Susan, and I so greatly appreciate it! The sensual/dark genre is a personal favorite, and is so much fun to write ... I have a number of others you might like, ('Fallen Down', 'Black Swan', 'Shadow Play', 'Abandon'), if you're ever looking for similar. Blessings! :-) <3

That's very sweet of you, Carrie, and I thank you SO much! I haven't read the rest yet, (I plan to soon), but I am always honored to have my name anywhere NEAR yours, as you are one of my favorite contemporary poets, (seriously), and the quality of your work is unparalleled here. Blessings, my friend! :-) <3

The moon and the beauty that lingers around the night- as love whispers softly. Your thoughts wrap sweetly around me, and I am drifting to such a magical place. In that dream, where anything is possible. This is so beautiful and romantic. I have written a poem called "October Moon" A bit of a naughty poem. (Blushing) I suppose I could post it when the time is right. :) Brandy

(2) I have a number of "naughty" pieces ... nothing graphic or blatant, as I like to work on peoples' imaginations, but I love sensuality, romance, tinged with darkness. Blessings, friend! :-) <3 ("Black Swan", "Abandon" and "Fallen Down" are recent ones in a similar genre)
