A Guardian's Tail

It’s been a few years, but the memory lingers As though her soft fur still touches my fingers A tornado passed through and the power went out Provoking another severe colitis bout Breaking into a sweat while violent winds blew Frightening noise sounded like a train passing through The next thing I knew a gentle touch crossed my face As Katy hoped my suffering she could erase Her tail now my mustache as I opened my eyes To peer into hers that shone like emerald skies For more than an hour I’d been lying on the floor Huddled with stomach pain next to my office door She’d been asleep on my desk last I could recall And apparently I’d frightened her with my fall Though I’d felt so alone, I had been very wrong A guardian watched over me with a love strong For twenty years she served as my faithful anchor And though she’s gone now, I continue to thank her

When God made man and beast there was communication between all ... sin has changed much, but not everything, animals still have the power to feel with us. A very beautiful and touching poem, only a generous soul could write. I love it.

Carolyn, I feel like I am going crazy again. I thought for sure I'd read and replied to this one earlier. It's so sweet, and yet I do not see my reply here! Wanted to tell you, I can't enter the dieting poem becuase I didn't realize when I wrote it, the rhyme scheme has to match up EXACTLY. Crap! (and sometimes I have to wear 16 shirts for my huge boobs. hahaha.. I could do well in that FLa town you mentioned!)

Poetry is such sweet music, that which last the ages and hangs in the hall. where we shall never forget those cute little bundles of fur who ask little but, give so very much. Magnificent tribute. Mac

Wonderful couplet, Carolyn! We are never alone indeed, God always finds a way to show us that, especially when going through trials, may there be personal, due to sickness or due to the elements. Good luck on the cat tail contest. And thank you for your great comments always on my poetry. Love and Happiness, Caroline.

Carolyn, This is so beautiful it made me cry! I adore cats and they give out as much love as dogs do, just in different ways. Your poem tells such a sweet story of how your devoted cat was there in your time of need, and I kind of think that animals are our guardian angels. I will make this poem a favorite. It is simply wonderful. Sorry you lost her...Aloha, Connie
