A Day In the Amazon
10 word challenge for contest
I'm awakened by the sound of ANCESTRAL drums,
marking time in the distance. MOCKINGBIRDS
and a MENAGERIE of screeching creatures join in .
I breakfast on a LUSCIOUS mango, and I INFUSE
the flowers of a nearby FRANGIPANI tree,
into a PELLUCID brew of jasmine tea.
I spend the day paddling the Amazon, and my troubles
float away, chased by the RIPPLES of the river.
As the VERMILION skies cede to the obsidian of TWILIGHT,
I drift once again into a peaceful slumber.
