Pick-A-Title, Vol 48 Poetry Contest

4th place in the contest

A state of tension and fear. Forests are much more than trees. Nature experiences on a wild night, with strange discoveries without scientific explanations. Cold gust hisses between the trees, even though there is no wind. A pack of emaciated wolves, barely alive, with bloody iron teeth. Whispering shadows collapse, the rocks have crumbled in the gorge. A terrible scream reverberates in the void, overpowered by negative charisma. Wild galloping ghost horses, with linen veils on their heads. Red eye balls light up, as emergency flares. Uncontrollable shaking, the night filled me with dread.

Anne-Lise, you've identified some of the curious things that present themselves at night. Hard to know how to explain it all. Hope you are well and thanks for making me ponder the night in this way. Smiles!

The real cryptids that are out there most do not know about Anne-Lise. I have done many years of research and your poem brings some truth to this reality. Enjoyed reading...

Hi Anne, after reading your poem I think I'll avoid walking through the forest, all though saying that, there's only one forest near London, that is Epping forest, where I often use to visit when I was a kid. xx

A night like that would fill me with dread too Ann-Lise. If one goes down to the woods at night, they may be in for the fright of their life… Beryl

"with bloody iron teeth. Whispering shadows collapse," -- Wow blood chilling image. "Uncontrollable shaking, the night filled me with dread." I hear you...and yet this is when we do most of our writing, both good and bad. The night a complicated beast. Blessings my friend. Great writing!

Quite a forboding verse Anne Lise, they're quite spooky even in daytime, you never know what's lurking behind the trees. Enjoy your weekend. Tom

- Many years ago, a naked man behind a tree in the forest... jumped forward onto the path - in broad daylight... - Happy weekend, Tom :) - hugs
