The eye in the jewelry box was the aged rusty gate Sensory images, overgrown paths - Grief vent itself in tears No ties between past and future generations The mournful reverberation from the house of emptiness Sound of rain dropped merciless Dilapidated and abandoned Attacked by the ravages of time The once white painted walls, graffiti Ceiling beams arches, hammock Slate steps and slate top broken Decay of the years - etched in stone

Anne-Lise, I'm seeing what you wrote and hoping it could be fixed back to its original condition. But even so, the decay is artwork in itself and you describe it with real compassion. Smiles!

Wherever we look, we see such abandoned houses where once life thrived, but now left to ruin. The plaster and paint gone, but the stone structure remains. Beautiful entry for the contest. All the Best, dear Anne. Love and hugs.

A very profound poem. Life has a beginning and an end. Which, in a way, is unfortunate. A beautiful poem.

Things are not meant to last...even the art we make. What lasts is how we live...what inspired all our adventures and things. Great poetry! You get a FAV!

Anne-Lise Your poetry focuses on the flow of time and the psychological weight of memory linked with a once-thriving location that has fallen into disrepair. It inspires feelings of nostalgia and sorrow, reflecting the spirit of forgotten memories and the unavoidable decay. Good luck with the contest.
