1st place in the contest

- the mirror shows time of age ... the truth gives a bitter taste - Quote by the poet They said she ate children and the kids in the street called her the witch She can't bear to look at herself in the mirror stopped participating in social events The body was aged and dappled suspicious moles examined it was cancer A photograph hangs on the wall she was radiantly pretty - as in a fairy tale A long time ago

So difficult to accept the ageing process without a degree of bitterness. So sad but true are your sentiments expressed so succinctly. One has good memories - and then even memories fade ! Oh dear.

Time leaves such sad changes ! Now looking at her dappled face, what all conclusions are made while her mind is getting dappled with scars of pain seeing the sad changes that have come over her once beautiful face. Moving poem. Congratulations Smile on your first place win. Love and hugs

So sad and lovely, Sunshine! And so very true. We find old buildings beautiful, but we seldom look for the beauty in lined faces. Congratulations on your win!

An excellent write Anne-Lise, it’s so sad that when someone grows old they’re judged on their looks when on the inside a beautiful soul is stood. Congratulations on your win in Constance’s contest… Belle

These transformations are heartbreaking, aren't they? They change not just the outer beauty, but the inner beauty as well.

A person dying of cancer should not be called a witch. Alas, so many unkind people. Loved your poem. Hugs xx

What an amazing poem for this contest Anne-Lise. So deeply sad, yet so true to life. There are times when ugly should be seen as beautiful. Your poem is extraordinary.

The ravages of time and disease can take a terrible toll on the body, but it’s only childish people that rub salt in the wounds, a sad and poignant piece Anne-Lise, cheers David

So sad--the reader is left with the angst she felt. Well depicted--people make judgements even when they don't have the facts.
