Half Past Summer, Two Months Till Fall

They quickly pass, the waning days more brief, like love once shied beneath a garish moon, expose the truths betrayed by Autumn's thief. Infatuation always ends too soon ~ still tethered to the oak, a hopeful leaf... for Andrea's "Half Past Summer" Contest

Some beautiful lines here, Craig. I rarely watch for POTD's, so I had no idea this got a POTD or that you entered my contest. Big congrats and also for the POTD. Except for a few minor things, I almost placed this first.

Beautifully written Craig! Thank you for the kind compliment of my writing. I have not been on here for awhile or I would have surely answered sooner. My answer though is this, You write beautifully and own your style! Keep up the good work, my friend.

Congratulations Craig! beautifully weaves seasonal metaphor with longing—brief days and fleeting infatuation captured in a single, hopeful leaf. It’s simple and deeply evocative.

Hello Craig, There’s something in the timing of this piece like you caught the light just right at seasonal and emotional thresholds blending into one. It reads like someone who’s lived it, or at least dreamt it enough to know the cost. Tender, resigned, and quietly painful so fitting for POTD. Congrats! Summer Blessings, My Friend, Danie

a bit of melancholy metaphor blowing in the fading breeze. I've read it several times...each time the picture changes.
