If you want to call yourself a Poet, don’t let anyone speak on your behalf - speak in own poetic voice. Don’t let anybody else speak about your abuse, expériences or healing. You not only give away your poetic license, you give away your power to feel completely. Any trauma will be diluted in this way & your cycles of repressed emotion will remain repressed in fragments. Worse, it will be coloured by someone else calling themselves collaborators. This is a sophisticated form of power usurping.

In short, poetry is more thoughtful. To be poetic involves heartfelt communion on a creative level that does not exist even with dear, profound prose. Great prose often exhibit strong poetic language.
