Contest Description
What to Submit?
One NEW poem on the theme of singing / a song / songs. It doesn't have to be sing-songy, although I don't mind if it is! Don't actually write me a song, and nothing Christmassy (I'll be over it by the time I judge) or religious please.
What I like:
ORIGINALITY
Good technique
Skilful word choices (but don't give me ten words I have to look up!)
What I don't like
Forced rhyme (don't get me wrong, I LOVE rhyme, but if you suddenly throw in a "rock that's porous" because it rhymes with "chorus", then you won't be on the winners' list!)
Prose poetry
Olde worlde language ('Twixt you and I, I'd like our new decade to be one in which no poet ever uses the word 'twixt.)
Clichés
Over-long poems
Knowing who's written a poem, so if you have signature formatting for your poems or footer, don't use it please!

English Language
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
