Intensity Poetry Contest
Free verse poetry form only.
Poetry Contest Deadline:
Thursday, April 25, 2019
poems of the maximum 35 allowed
have been entered.
4/25/2019 12:00:00 AM
Note from Sponsor:
I have been specific in mentioning LAKES or STREAMS. Mention of other bodies of water, e.g. rivers, in conjunction with or instead of these will disqualify your poem. // Be careful not to send me what is merely prose that you have put in verses... Only Free Verse writing will be considered, i.e. labelling must match content. // BRAND NEW UPDATE - Having the majority of it in Free Verse, but the first three and last three lines in near rhyme will stop a poem from being among the winning ones.
You are invited to write a NEW poem about LAKES or STREAMS. I must notice your poem has been achieved in a intense way... For an example of the strong intensity I am looking for, but on a different natural form, see my poem called "A Billion Ponds" here on Poetry Soup, dated 3/17/2019.
IMPORTANT RULE -
A) the date,
B) the title of this contest,
C) Sponsor - Julia Ward
beneath your striking poem.
Give your work a noteworthy title... "A Billion Ponds" made people look. :) How I got inspiration for THAT was from my reading a typo for a billion pounds (sterling).
What to Submit?
One original and emotional Free Verse poem on the subject of lakes or streams.
First - Tenth prize - Glory.
Preparing Your Entry
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
A Note to Poetry Contestants
You are welcome to enter this contest, whether or not you won a prize in one of my previous contests.
