Contest Description
"When a man who is drinking neat gin starts talking about his mother he is past all argument."
That is a quote from C.S. Forester's "The African Queen".
***
Entitle your poem "Mother" and make it as mawkish* as possible as if you are the man who has had too much gin in the morning. Don't make your poem anything to do with "The African Queen". I am just using the quote as your prompt.
* mawkish - sentimental in an exaggerated or false way
IMPORTANT - I shall be judging the contest not for the most mawkish entries, but for the best written as poetry, so use a few poetic devices.
Any form is acceptable.
I have written an examplar here on Poetry Soup dated 2/17/2018.
