1 original, poem on the theme of .............
Any form is acceptable.
The saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is most commonly attributed to the Irish novelist Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, who used the phrase in her 1878 novel Molly Bawn.
It is one of life's truisms. If we could look out of others' eyes, there's nothing in this world that we could not find beauty in.
I would like to read some poetry about something or someone you find beautiful that the majority of the world would find ugly, unpleasant, or unworthy of this adjective. It can be something we would know or something personal we may have not seen but you can describe from both perspectives for us.
I'm going to give an example… although I used to hate it when teachers would do this and use something I thought would be perfect but now it would seem like I was just being lazy and copying the teacher lol. So, yea…don't use this subject now, sorry! Scars. Scars can be seen as ugly but if viewed from certain perspectives, they can be so beautiful. (So no poems about scars please)
Any form, any length…your title should be “_________ is/are Beautiful”. You will put your chosen theme in the blank. Example: “Scars are Beautiful”. It can be more than a one word theme. Such as, : “Battle Scars are Beautiful”.
Make us see this from your perspective and convince us of the beauty you behold.
Please choose a theme that most people would not see as beautiful. So, flowers, stars, bathing suit models, etc…would not be a good theme! ;)
I've recently submitted a ballad that would fit this contest but it's not the title I'd like to see on your poems... Just something to give an idea of what I'm looking for…and it's the same theme as my example, so I won't be ruining any more theme ideas for you!
