Laura, I believe in God. I believe in a afterlife. Acceptance of what Christ did on the cross determines where you end up. My belief is it's more than saying you are a Christian, its the unsaid that speaks volumes a person is a follower of Christ. Thanks for sharing this blog. I was not offended one bit:-) Alexis

Great blog. I suppose I am what is deemed a "broken" christian. I believe but my association with the church is weddings and funerals now a days. I'm also believe the that Jews, Muslims and Christians share the same god and just disagree on the details. So heaven should be pretty multi-cultural when we get there.

Thank you, Charma, for expressing your faith. It is good to have the hope of heaven and the faith to believe!

As for myself I don't believe myself to be religious. I have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and I trust that in Christ sacrificing Himself on the cross that my sins have been forgiven. My thankfulness results in my wishing to please my Heavenly Father. I for one am not offended by this blog and have enjoyed reading all the varied perspectives provided so far.

I knew you were a believer, Richard, from past comments and poems. We have much to look forward to in the life that is to come!

Laura, I just read a few of the comments on the bottom. In no way do I feel, this blog is violating poetry soup rules. You're just asking a simple question about life and what we believe is our purpose here. Besides, this blog's linked to your latest contest. In which I'm going to check out right now.

Thanks, Linda. I will see where this goes. I appreciate your encouragement, as always :)

A wonderful blog Laura, I believe in the afterlife. I'm not as religious as others. Anyways, we are forced to face these questions every day. Does not mean, we have the answers (or have to answer.) The subject is something most of us on the Soup'' write about. The Afterlife has inspired over thousands of poems on this site. As a matter of fact, I worked on 4 collaborations plus my snow globe poem, in which talks about the afterlife & what happens to our souls when we pass. Love LINDA

Thank you, Linda. I do hope you'll be inspired to write a poem for my contest!

I have no use at all for "religion". Spirituality, that I can deal with and live with. We have involved some "creative" being in a celestial "nature or nurture" dialogue. As for the Soup....let's make it alphabet soup and include everyone and their beliefs.....not their preaching or belittling of the beliefs of others. Who knows....next we may write about politics and the soup will boil over and burn. It should be an interesting contest...sure hope the soup doesn't attempt to protect us from ourselves....for our own good.

I appreciate your comments, John. I am not "out and out" preaching, but just asking the question that I believe is important for everyone to think about and consider. After all, no one escapes the grave. Is there more to this life than our one shot here on earth? I believe so!

Laura, this is a very interesting blog, but I hope that you will not get in trouble with TPS for religious contest. I had two blogs removed in the past for that very reason. However, I see that others have posted their beliefs, so I will take a plunge and share mine. I John 5: 12- He who has the Son...has life. This is a reference to eternal life which will be give to the believers when Jesus comes again, but also...we are to enjoy fullness of life here (John 10:10). I believe that God is merciful.

Thank you for your wonderful words, Eileen! I knew you were a believer, and I knew I might get in trouble with all of this, but I did it anyway! I'm grateful to have the hope of Christ within, and I hope others will understand that it is nothing that I have done to deserve it, but only by His mercy and grace!

Though I believe that Salvation comes through exception Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross, ("there is no other under under heaven given to man by which he can be saved" Acts 4: 12), I know that people of different faiths will b saved into the kingdom if they have tried to live by the will of God...which can be summed up in Christ's words: He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." (Luke 10:27). There is a better day coming, Laura. It is the hope that keeps me....the belief that when He comes, I will see my mother again whom I have lost to MS. Who doesn't need hope?

Laura: I am mostly Fundamentalist in my beliefs. Just a theory, but this life is a training ground, perhaps, making us less likely (or impossible) to revolt like the Sons of Light? So there is hope, but most won't make it. There are possible theories where more will make it, but wont be residing in 'the city'. Not sure where I am going to end up.

I can tell you know your Bible, Rob. Yes, I believe this earth is a training ground, but also that we can have assurance of salvation if we believe and receive Christ. That is the hope I cling to!

In reference to what Tommy Boy is saying, we don't necessarily have to take this as a religious blog. Some people believe in reincarnation. Some believe in an afterlife. Some believe the end is the end. I don't see the problem in asking people what they think. I do not have faith like a mustard seed, but I do believe in kindness, and in Karma, so with all the stories we hear about NDE's, I like to think we will go to another place after death! I think it is easier to believe our lives have purpose on earth than to believe we were just born here simply from some mistake of nature. The world is far too organized for all this to have been a toss of the dice!

Thank you for being open minded in your interpretation of blog rules, Andrea, as I am not sure where they are located. But, I like to discuss this topic, which I believe is vitally important. I believe in the literal interpretation of Scripture, and as a Christian, I am a "Christ Follower".

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed and you say mountain move, the mountain will move..Questions..If humanity didn't believe in an after life how much better would they live, how many wars would they fight, how many deaths would be avoided...If they knew this was the only thing, this life..would they waste it like they do now..and what is faith but the belief that what one believes is true whether it is or not...how many have died in the belief of eternity?I've seen faith move mountains I've yet to see it stop war.

Thank you for your input, Frederic. Faith is definately an important element in believing. It is who we believe in that is central in my faith, as well.
