Eternity Contest Judged

Blog Posted by Laura Leiser: 9/15/2015 5:20:00 PM

Thank you to all who entered my "Where Do You Think You Will Spend Eternity?" contest! It was extremely hard to narrow the poems down in this contest. Some of you had brilliant poems, but they did not touch on the question that I asked, so they were eliminated. Some poems were good, but I could not get around the mispellings. I appreciated the various opinions and beliefs mentioned, though I was most uplifted by the ones that had hope in them. Whether you like the results or not, I tried to consider each one, and did the best I could.

Hi Laura, so sorry for being late. Thank you for placing me in your contest. I really appreciate the opportunity and the inspiration. I got to read your reply to Andrea. My apologies if ever I have inadvertently violated any unwritten rule. It was just that both your and Rob's contest were there at the same time and I felt that my take on ONE really meshed with your theme and so I concluded it the way I did, gearing for the Eternity theme. Please be assured that this won't be repeated and feel free to remove my winning poem, it's really fine with me. Sincerely, Kim.

Thank you for your thoughtful response, Kim. I am okay with the results and am definitely on a learning curve about how to run contest! Actually, you attitude is refreshing, considering I am getting flack from some poets who felt I judged wrongly.

I saw that glitch, too, Nette. I had a full contest a while back, judged it, and then this happened. I blame it on PS!

This is my second contest, Andrea, and it is HARD to judge! I really respect those who put on contests often, including you! I tried to judge blind, but a few people put their names on there poems, and I noticed some of them had put their poems into other recent contests and had placed in them. SO, I will probably ask for NEW poems and no names in the next contest I host. Funny, I did that on the first contest I did, but forgot to this time!
