Watching the news, fox news in particular, is morally exhausting and not worth my time anymore Eric. Niether is joining some nonprofit idealist organization that tries to convince me my money and/or time volunteering can help change the world and put a smile on people's faces. I can't change the world and I don't know Eric but it sounds like you feel the same way. In the meantime keep reading the news and feel the rage bubble underneath at how powerless you are to stop the corruption, the greed, the lazy, the conservatives, the liberals, the racist, morally bankrupt politicians, ceo's with golden parachutes, whatever. Call me cynical, Lord knows I have, but if I don't have at least 100 million dollars I can't change anything in a meaningful way that is worth my time commitment. All I can do is be a smart cog in this so called democratic money machine and try and stay out of the spotlight. If I speak too loudly, someone with real power can shut me up very quickly.

It makes me angry as well Constance but it also makes me feel powerless to do anything about it. People say to get involved and work for change but I have come to the conclusion that there going to do what they want anyway regardless of what we say. Freedom has never felt so controlled.

Hi Eric, yes I am worried and I am frightened at the condition of this country, this world, so, its not just you! The things done to not only people but to all creatures in this world.Thats why, I love poetry writing, I can leave the reality behind, even if just for awhile, but it is always there waiting for me. Sometimes I write about reality and the cruelty of this world and it makes me angry.

Just checking the waters Deborah, I suppose I subscribe to an overabundance of news feeds and an alarming pattern is emerging across the country. People's fuses are growing shorter than usual and to many powder kegs are just smoldering. Only seems like there are two kinds of people, the pissed off slaves and the complacent and clueless. I was just popping my head up to see if anyone else was watching. Thanks for your input.

No it's not just you Eric. Alot of us write political verse and moral verse. Out of curiousity what do you think is going on? If this is the type of verse you like you might read James Fraser, Vince Suzadail,Yoni Dvorkis, Sami Al-Khalili or myself? The site as a whole does seem to prefer the "lighter more positive glass is at least 1/2 full style". Yet we do have enough of us in & out of depression to be glad of it!
