I'm Ready for My Close Up, Mr. DeMille!!!!!

HAHA, just kidding. I had a BLAST on Drake's "StandAs1" show

. Thanks to everyone who called in and made the experience that much better (you know who you are!).

I must say that poetry read aloud had a much different effect on me; it was more profound, commanding and authoritative. It took on a whole new feel and connotation. I felt a true sense of appreciation for those poets and their poems, one that I probably otherwise would not have experienced. Admittedly, I usually skip over many non-rhyme poems, but hearing them read aloud has a much different affect on me. I was able to hear inflections and emphasis that I lose when just reading them to myself (if that makes sense.) I wish I could hear all poems out loud.

Again, BIG shout out to Drake for his awesome show and to everyone who listened and participated. Even Sophia The Lush LOL! (sooo kidding!)

Nice closing plug. Have listened to the entire show, enjoyed it, the two of you play off each other really well. Great to hear you, your accent in real life doesn't sound anything like you do in my head.

Hi Chan-- it sure was wonderful listening to you and Drake last Sunday... you definitely made the show interesting and I enjoyed the show very much & your discussions--it's so true, what you say here about poetry having a "whole new feel" when it is read aloud-- it adds another layer to the poem that would otherwise have been missed if it were just read silently. It sure would be awesome to have you back on the show...It was really great hearing the other Soupers call in! I'm sorry though that my call in there was on the dull side (haha, it truly was, I was listening to it and can't help saying to myself-- wow, I sound sooo mellow) I was having an e(h)vening but still wanted to call, add in my sucky connection & voila, a blah call from me, I sounded so weird. Sorry again :(

I'm so sorry I was away this time, but I do plan to listen to the archive, but I've listened to Drakes show many times, and I agree! So many poems read aloud, have greater depth and meaning, and can reach the heart in such a human way. Congrats to you for your part......I can't wait to hear it!
