Fantasia / Morocco/ Arbian Horses

Blog Posted by Debbie Guzzi: 10/7/2010 5:43:00 AM
On a large open field outside the city of Meknes today (as well as many other places throughout the area) a celebration occurs to praise the beauty and the power of the Arab horse. The event is called Fantasia. Farmers dressed in white robes with turbines on their heads lead thier horses out into the field. The horses are draped in brilliantly embroidered blankets. The men mount. A signal is given and together they charge across the field, they wave their rifles and rush toward the crowd. At the last minute a signal is given and the horses rear, the riders stand in their stirrups and they fire their guns in unison, quite a spectical. Afterward their is much singing dancing and eating. Boy would I love to see this event!

Carrie, gosh, I can just see that horse hanging over the fence, what a wonderful sight to see in the morning, I would get another horse, but boarding is so expensive here, I just cannot afford it at the moment plus the other costs of owning a horse, and well, can my heart take it...

Horses are a favorite animal of mine. intelligent and awesome.. luv horse racing and the thoroughbreds .. they are unique and powerful... used to attend the races frequently back in the day.. got to take a picture with Barbero in Philly when he was tops a few years ago before his tragic end... he was huge and to be able to sit atop this grand stallion I needed a ladder haha..luv..

She was born blind from birth for some unknown reason. Dad decided to let her live for it was not known that she was blind for several days after her birth. And by then we were attached to this beautiful jet black beauty. She was my baby by then, and I loved her dearly. Agape, Moses

"Old Pet!" She was a blind mare, I use to ride as a kid. Gentle as a lamb, she responded to the human voice like a seeing eye dog. "Easy Pet" she would slow down and ease along trusting every word you would say. "Go On now Pet" she would begin to trot! "It's OK now Pet" she would go into a gallop! I always had to much respect for her to have her run full speed. "Easy Pet heres the creek" she would slow down and begin to creep, anticipating the banks slope. She would ease down into the water wadding to about knee depth, taking her leasure for a cool drink. When she was done, "Lets Go Home Pet!" I would give her her head and she would go straight to the barn, where she knew there woul be grain, hay and a treat of fruit waiting. She was a joy in my life I'll never forget. Agape, Moses

Growing up with horses in our back pasture, they have always seemed like a natural part of my life, in one way or another. My dad trained them for other people, as well as our own, and taught many kids how to ride, including my own children. We live in an area, where our neighbors horses are hanging over our fences this morning...although, we don't have any of our own at the present time. But they are surely like a family pet....their eyes are windows to their souls. :)

I do love horses, had 2 horses as a child, Sky and Wind, kept them at Grandpa's farm, as an adult I had MacKenzie, I got him at 3 years old and he died just a few years ago, it broke my heart each time, now to me this might be quite am event for the crowd, but not quite sure the horses would say it is so wonderful with guns and shouting going on. I am a voice for animal abuse, I do not support the use of animals for entertainment purposes but thats just me, I am sure many enjoy the event must be quite colourful~~
