Tears of Forsaken Closeness
by Teppo Grén

I adore your elegance and beauty
which sets alight my life's passion with hope.
Comply with these feelings, my yearning heart's
bewitched by burning arrows of my love.
Pursue, I will my desire to hold you.
Affection’s zealous promise of amour
renews, unchains, releases my self doubt,
reflection, and shadows of past shyness.
My bashful silence is shed; hope is found,
unknown feelings rise which I must convey
by words of verse. I‘m cast off in pain and
alone, a fragile heart of kindness weeps.
Years of yearning to find true love ends in
tears shed, fanciful musing forsaken.

SONNET FORM #2 Chained Sonnet - try for iambic pentameter - The last word of the line becomes the first word of the next line -10 syllables per line.

The Locked Garden
By Danetta Barney

The garden’s rainbow blooms beyond the skies,
skies which soon greets the eagle as he flies.
Flies high above the beauty of the earth,
earth and heaven experienced since birth.
Birth and praise rise high to the trumpets sound.
Sound divine as rose pedals on the ground,
ground revels in laughter spread to the field.
Field of dreams outlasting shadows of doubt,
doubt which cannot convince our hope to fade,
fade from bright shades of color into night.
Night always casts a few short hours lost,
lost in oneself is much too high a cost.
The locked garden opens its heart to dance,
dance exuberantly in kind romance.

SONNET FORM #3 Acrostic Sonnet [use any sonnet rhyme pattern you like] The Title can be the acrostic - so you need 14 letters HELP HELP HELP ME each line starts with a word beginning with the letters in the phrase.

Alzheimer Signs
by Danetta Barney

A ll he knew was the moonlight shined brightly
L eading him into the woods all alone.
Z ipping his blue jacket he wore nightly,
H e carried his cane, with each step he groaned.
E ver so slowly he wandered away;
I n his heart was a song from his childhood.
M emories and laughter would soon decay
E ager he rushed to the thick of the woods.
R ainfall muddied the old shoes on his feet,

S topped him cold at first, he turned to look back.
I mprisoned in his mind, he took a seat,
G rabbed his chest hearing a thundery crack.
N ow his loved ones discover him at last
S howing him the way home, no question asked.

Melodies of the Heart
by Danetta Barney

It’s so awesome the way you make me feel.
We promise to love in sickness and health
though we fall short in abundance of wealth;
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

I bat my brown eyes; you love my high heels.
I am the prettiest girl of your dreams.
I capture your love all at once it seems,
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

Our love is true, genuine and so real.
There is no one else for you other than me.
Remember our hearts carved on that old tree?
My ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

It’s so awesome the way you make me feel;
my ardent heart skips a beat for you still.

SONNET FORM #5 Sestina Sonnet  - NO RHYME The four words that end the lines of the first stanza, end the lines of the other two stanzas, in a different order each time. The last stanza, uses two of those words per line, with one in the middle and one at the end of the line.

God And Nature Are Foundations In Each Soul
by Robert Lindley

God and Nature give me such sweet release,
as both seep quite deeply into my soul.
Joined in this melding we race on carefree
and we in our wisdom dance two by two.

My life now consists of love of we two,
holding the joys in being so carefree.
Days and nights bring on our hottest release,
together build stronger each longing soul.

Nature and God live in a seeking soul,
creating scenarios for release.
Bathed in true light, they create sets of two,
with beloved brought pairs that are carefree.

God and Nature are TWO foundations in each soul.
the quest NOT CAREFREE CAN be a release.

SONNET FORM #6 - Shadow Sonnet May be written in any sonnet end rhyme pattern. The Shadow takes place at the beginning and ending of each line as the words are identical or homophonic words or their derivatives. 14 lines Should have a volta or pivot (if original form does) Iambic pentameter is not necessary.

Known Now, A Hidden Sweet Wonder Rarely Known
by Robert Lindley

Green forest glowings transcends earthly green.
Masked veils waiting to be wisely unmasked.
Why hide the answer after asking why?
Would a forest's skin be only bark wood?

Can not earth's Nature also prove man can;
live in peace and do right by letting live.
Finding old trees joyous in the finding.
Many jewels found where runes are many.

Tokens of darkness just ancient tokens.
On blood-sacrificing stones, red stains still on.
Hope for greater insight against lost hope;
revealed in wood old savagery revealed.

Yet old timber growths you may still find yet
Unknown miracles crying to be known.

So nice of you Deb! Sorry I was unable to join this time, but I enjoyed reading the inspired writes from this challenge. Also have read and commented on most of Robert's entries as with several of TJ's works before, both certified sonnet enthusiasts. Happy to know Danetta joined again. Way to go, sonneteers!

Deb, you ought to host separate contests that focus on each special style one at a time!
Date: 2/24/2016 8:56:00 AM
Debs. I now have read these. It was so sweet of you to show the different styles tried by these fine sonneteers. Some of them, like Robert and Teppo, I am already familiar with. They have set themselves apart at Soup as lovers of a poetry form that has stood the test of time. You ought to show in front of each poem - a short description of the the stylized form that each poet used in their unique sonnet.
