LIFE IS SHORT

It's not
as if you have
a choice in the matter,
but if you leave a poem
it's enough.

I have been busy taking care of my 88 year old mother. It has kept me away from poetry, but I am not complaining, it is a blessing for both me and my brother to be able to care for her.

This year she has had a few stays in the hospital. She is home now and doing well. Her late husband, Bruce J. Nelson, my step father, was an artist. He passed away in 2015 at the age of 93. Mom wants to get his art back out into the world, and I am doing that for her. It is a bg job, he had done so many pieces.

If you are interested in seeing his work some of his art is available at artpal.com/bjnestate22

You are great to be her caretaker. I feel so fortunate that one of my youngest sisters moved back to our home state to be there for our mother when she takes a fall or something . Her health not quite the same going into her 90s. Your stepdad's work is lovely. I grew up as a child near Mt. Rainier.

Chetta, you are a caring daughter, I understand as I cared for my mother when she got ill until her death, it is a sacrifice but one I have never regretted. My father died suddenly, it was horrible. That is so awesome what you are doing for your father and his art, the painting is beautiful, I am sure he is looking down from heaven smiling, Constance

Propelled by our soul, poetry portrayed by mind is distilled by the heart ~ hence always within you, whether you write or not. These moments of tenderness as you look after your mother are so precious. May the light within you keep glowing!
