Memories Shared With A Friend Part Two - Caroline Mackey's Blog

<SPAN lang=EN> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>Months would turn into years as they always do and tables would turn and I myself would need my dear friend Caroline. Approximately three years into my first marriage problems that already existed would become escalated. I was abused by my first husband. We would separate for a brief period of time. Trying to salvage my marriage I would overlook the little things. Time would pass and the smiles and laughter every-one would see would come to an end once again.</P> <P>Things would become heated once again one day in the local grocers parking lot when I would need him to come to my aid. I was having problems with my car and didn’t know who ells to call. What happened next is not all that clear. A conversation we had, had turned in to an argument. He then grabbed me, trying to choke me. Some-one must have seen the scene and called the police for they would arrive soon to intervene. My first husband would be arrested and jailed over night. He was released the fallowing day for I refused to press charges.</P> <P>I had, had all that I could endure so I began divorce proceedings which would take approximately five months. My divorce became final in March 1998. At this time I and my children would come to stay with Caroline and her two children.</P> <P>Caroline’s home was very small, it was a two bed room home. The outside was well kept, but the inside was in poor condition. Windows would literally come out do to termite damage. The sealings through out the house leaked. It had a central heating and air unit that didn’t function properly.</P> <P>When you entered the house you would be in the living room. In it was a sofa, a rocker, a TV, and a corner shelf. My boys would sleep there. Off to the left was a small bed room which was Crystals, full of her things. This is ware my doter would sleep.</P> <P>Striate through the living room you would find the dinning room. In it you will find many things for it had many purposes. It served as a bedroom for Wain, an office for Caroline, and a library for the family. Many meals would be served in this room as well.</P> <P>Off to the right of the dinning room was Caroline’s bedroom. Quit cramped for it had a full size bed, TV with TV stand, dresser, foot stool, a bed side table and she also used it for storing. This is ware I would sleep. Caroline and I would have many late night conversations in this room.</P> <P>Between the two bed rooms was a bath room. Not much to say about it for it was very small. Just the basics in their. A tub/ shower, sink, and toilet. No room for extras in there.</P> <P>Directly behind the dinning room was the kitchen ware Caroline prepared many meals for my family as well as her own. Blenders and mixers, a coffee pot to would occupy the small counter space..</P> <P>Last but not least of to the left of the kitchen you could find the enclosed back porch that served as the laundry facilities and a storage room. This room would be used most By my dear friend Caroline for she not only did her own families laundry, but she did mine as well for I worked at the local hospital and my shift didn’t permit me to have much time to do the things I needed to do.</P> <P>I remember a conversation we had one late night after I got home from work. It went something like this. After I came in Caroline greeted me with a smile as she always did. But this time it was different, she knew there was something on my mind and it just couldn’t wait.</P> <P>Caroline spoke to me in a soft voice so as not to wake the kids. “ How was your night, you seem unsettled. Is every thing ok?”</P> <P>“ I guess, I’m just tiered” I replied.</P> <P>“Stop worrying about every thing, things will all work out. You have a bright future a head of you. I know this thing with Dan has been really hard on you, but you are a strong person. You have plans to future your career in nursing. As far as finding a place for you and your children to live, a house will come a long that will be just right for you and your children.” she said softly to me.</P> <P>My simple reply was “I know it’s just that I feel as if I am taking advantage of you and that is the last thing I ever wonted to do.”</P> <P>Softly speaking aging Caroline said “ don’t worry about it I am your friend and I will always be here for you.”</P> <P>“Besides I’m afraid, afraid of being alone. I have always had some-one there to walk with me. My parents, a boyfriend, or my husband.” I cried.</P> <P>“Like I told you, you are a very strong woman and you don’t need any-one, you can stand on your own.” She stressed to me. “Some-one will come along that is right for you when the time is right. You just need to be patience and concentrate on the things you can control. Your career, and your housing situation.”</P> <P>After our conversation came to a close we both would drift of in to dream land. Both dreaming of the future ahead. Knowing both would be just fine.</P> <P>Once again time would pass us by. Both a little older, and a little wiser. The both of us in our early thirties. I remarried, with my three children. She freshly wed to the man of her dreams with two children from her previous relationships. All things endured we still remain friends. Always caring for one a another and there family’s. </P><FONT face=Broach></FONT><FONT face="Malgun Gothic"> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>&nbsp;</P></FONT></SPAN>
