I always find it interesting that Christians are portrayed as being narrow minded fools who believe in a mythological being. For me I have found that regardless of a persons belief system there is a desire on behalf of one person to somehow prove the other perspective is wrong. I found the dialogue below to be more about ego and less about desiring understanding. I see you as being an inteligent and articulate person and part of you thrives on the creation of controversy. In the end questioning is of value, even if some feeling are hurt in the process. My personal faith is based more on personal experience than what is written in past historical texts. I still found your blog interesting.

I am grateful the missionaries have stopped soupmailing me in attempts to convert me towards a dollar store rendition of a plastic Jesus glued onto a plastic cross made by children in China, using poisonous materials(that was several years of missionary work). If I put up a blog about the history of cotton candy, most people wouldn't be offended. But even then, someone could become offended. If I put up a blog about the history of coffee, the blog might be posted on the birthday of a Mormon who could become offended. Or if I post a blog about nutrition and healthy eating, and so happen to post during a fasting holiday, someone could possibly become offended because they didn't want to read about food while they were hungry. Such is the reality within a homogenized arena of political correctness. The irony is, the same people who advocate for the freedom of expression, poetic license, thinking outside of the box, are some of the same people who attempt to stifle that very process, with, "You are wrong, you CAN'T/SHOULDN'T write such things! I will show you exactly what is right and proper! Do you see! Do you see!? My point of view is right, and yours is wrong!"(But done so in a seemingly polite manner -- as long as an outward appearance of kindness is maintained, "it's all good"). And so the cycle continues plodding onwards....

Yes, it's very suspicious ...or at least questionable. There are a series of facts alleged to have been historical, but which are demonstrably mythical...not as exaggerations or perversions of historic truth, but belonging to the preexistent stories...preexisting myths...preexisting ideas... ; )

Dan, since you usually delete your comments, I will reply up here using my own comment. I am not even entirely sure wot you are going on about. I typed: "I enjoy the Jesus story; it is filled with positive lessons that lean on a strong moral code. If people followed this moral code to its fullest, the world can only become a better place." Am I fully following the teachings? No. Are you? No. Wot religion are you referring to that I follow? And where is the judgement, exactly? I find you to be insecure within your belief system -- that is not judgement, but an observation of mine. You become very defensive, very quickly. We all have weaknesses. Would you like a list of mine? So you are telling me that you could look me in the eyes, and without a single shred of doubt(none wotsoever), tell me that you are 100% non-judgemental of another religion other than your own?

Oh boy...all I hear is sheeple bleating...even some, who don't think they are sheeple, are in fact sheeple...big white brother sheeple to the big cloak and dagger sheeple, working their baa's... (brick walls are hard, but sheeple don't mind...its all about the bleating: my bleat is redder than your bleat) :P

Just a comment...the 'trilogy', Father Son and Holy Spirit are also taken from Egyptian mythology that each deity had a human, animal, and insect(?) As one deity.

I remember this well-written piece from last year. Did you originally use this as a school essay or is it just an interest? Well, writing fiction is so much easier than writing a comment. I can clarify tone in fiction, emphasize intent during dialogue with beats and action. I want to do this here, in this comment, because what I'm about to say may sound sacrastic or strange when I am, in fact, being genuine. I wanted to thank you for posting this blog NOW in early December. I appreciate you sharing these views before Christmas week, not during. Christmas is very special to me, for a thousand reasons. I respect your learning journey. Keep searching! Peace & Hugs, Cyndi ... and a smile...

Yes Chris, I realize all of this, but simply put all religions insist their own dogma is TRUTH [of course that is strictly their own subjective opinion] and everyone elses dogma is myth ie: stories made up of metaphors to instruct lesser minds, no belief system which enforces a dogma is teaching truth, they are instructing the membership in their own personal subjective opinions and weaving 'fact' in and around the opinion providing a cloak of truth.
