Do Not Give Out Private Information...

This is probably common sense, but do not give your personal information to ANYONE on ANY public website who asks for it, no matter what the reason.

If you are harassed by a Soup member, please forward the Soup Mail to us. Do NOT delete it.

You just have to be careful with whom you share your info. You don't know who is on the other end. I have over time had email addresses exchanged and have gotten to know some wonderful people on the soup. Thanks for the good advice

dear TPS.. this is serious and we hope you can find a way to secure this site... to all dear soupers, a realization that we need to send private accounts, etc with circumspection...:) huggs

There is no way to completely secure a website. You just have to delete bad seeds when they appear.

another soap opera in the making. I have shared my e-mail address, my facebook friendships and even my phone number ( with one) with people I have grown to admire with fondness. I am not overly trusting, I just found many here I like to consider friends.

Also if we could please have the ability to block soup mail that would help a lot because blocking the comments doesn't block the soup mail

dear soup De jour. I personally think, we are all grown ups here. A few more than others. I've never had a problem with my friends on the soup when it comes to having my private information. I never lead them on... ok well I did flirt with Nathan. .. A LOT...lol... But I know what I like. I do not regret meeting him on the soup... So it all comes down to this. I met my soulmate on your site thank you thank you thank you.....

Though I understand the need to protect oneself against harassment and - potentially- worse, I also believe that within soup's walls lies an opportunity for REAL connection, friendship. I have a handful of e-addys, home addresses and phone numbers from people I consider friends and they, in turn, have mine. I have received a phone call from one lovely souper THOUSANDS of miles away from me who I consider a soul-sister and if I hadn't given her that personal information, we would not have had the opportunity to speak in real time. One souper received direct help after the devastation that hit New Jersey last year by providing his address. Caution, yes, of course. But ... over time... trust, too. We should handle on-line meetings as we do real-time meetings... get to know each other before handing out pertinent information. There are soupers who HAVE met face to face and have enjoyed conversation, time, a meeting of minds. May all walls erected also have gates.. willing to open when the time presents itself...

PS-- I have never (nor would I ever) share the info that others have entrusted to me with any other souper. Though, if a souper went missing, I would let other soupers know I have tried to contact a mutual friend and will keep soupers posted on news. Love to all :)
