TEST MATCH SPECIAL an historic event

INDIA according to MARK TWAIN is the cradleof the human race,the birthplace of human speech ,the mother of history ,the grandmother of legend,&the great-grandmother of tradition.

Happily, English is also an adopted national language there(as our PS  poetry contest listings so regularly testify )&

even more....

.they learnt to love the English national game of cricket & (deservedly) will tomorrow compete in the inaugural TEST MATCH CRICKET FINAL ...a historic event indeed completely in accord wih Twain's truism

For the record New Zealand won on Day 6

Thanks for your wonderful comments on my country India. I love my country for above and also for its abundance of natural beauty. If you have not visited India, do make a trip. It is beautiful!

Every Indian male loves cricket. It is the favourite game of boys here, may be because of colonialism

My Dad was there from'43-'46 Rama,so my interest started back then

Brian, I do not know much about India, but it certainly looks like a very interesting country, I should do some research on the history and people as we have many members from India here on the soup. But, I do know that the English love their cricket, we are not much into that sport in Canada, which is odd as Queen Elizabeth is our Queen, enjoy the match, who is playing in the Final ?, Peace _Constance

India play New Zealand (5 day game at Southampton).Canada play the short T20 whiteball game at a lower international level.Do check out India ,there are some faciinating travel DVD about this emerging force in the economic world.Cheers
