Thank you to the following poets who had entered in the fun and contributed to this week's Who is the Poet?!!! Alphabetical:

Brian Strand

Cyndi MacMillan

Jag Nair

Mandy Tams

Seren Roberts

Suzette Crous

I will post the poems without the names for now, in order to give you time to guess the name of the poet. The answers will be posted Monday, 12 noon (GMT).

A rainbow in an Eastern sky
‘morrow t’wilt be fine and dry
One that in the West do gleam
rain will pour in streams and streams.
If a ‘bow t’ward the South you see
a pot of gold lies ‘neath for thee.
B'ware if it to the North, is nigh,
much folkore and urban myth, do lie.

Beware the curse, speak not MacBeth,
Lest angels weep as evil cometh,
Salt and prayer, may each assuage,
Step light upon the bedamned stage,
Hie, cross thyself then hold thy breath.

The plot hath thickened, witches rage,
Now, blood doth spot each player’s page
Hark, fair is foul! All must Knoweth...
Beware the curse

How bitter tastes the old king’s death,
Fate moveth man, power cometh
At greater costs than man can wage,
Forevermore lines will encage
Raise the curtain, but they saieth
Beware the curse

A ripped-apart sliver of a day
Giving way the dreaded leeway
To do in a teen set to careen

A cocky cocktail of a commonplace pang,
An atavistic abandon, a moth-eaten
Rafter and a wrong rope .

A screwed-up judgement. Sermon of end
Wins over the stupidity of beginning
Against the shy remonstrance of life.

“O, this time it was for that boy, not me,
The sudden owl- howl at the dead of night”
The old man said in obvious relief.

*The belief that the hoot of an owl at the dead of night foretells a death in the vicinity was proved right when a teen aged boy in my place committed suicide following two nights in which an owl unusually cried.

Women are better drivers than men, could this really be true?
A little test was done; the results are here for you.
To disguise the genders of participants, all were dressed the same
No one allowed to speak, none allowed to tell their name.

They had to drive a police car, around a designated track
With professional instructors, watching from the back.
The men it seems did better, scoring a higher score
And as for breaking the speed limit the woman broke it more.

So the myth that says women are better at driving,
Seems is just an urban myth
For those deluded women striving,
The myth is amended now forthwith.

Information first on air April 22 2012 by:
‘The Myth Busting’ team.
Test done between 10 men and 10 women…

The twitching eyes, predicting lies
An itchy nose, to argument rose

When left palm needs scratch, money expected in a batch
But all this is for naught, if with lipstick on collar caught

No amount of “lucky penny” will bring you luck – not any
Your throat is in a lump, because you’re in for the high jump!

My friends have a funny quirk
When walking down a street
Something they don’t shirk
I think it’s quite a hoot.
Can you guess what it is? It’s
Watching for lone magpies
To give them a salute

What the heck you doing
Feeling quite a fool
Warding off trouble
Don’t you think that’s cool
But when these birds
Fly overhead, it seems in ones
They look like nodding donkeys
In this case it’s with their arms

Owl and Suicide is a very tender poem. I like it as well :-)
Date: 3/17/2013 8:53:00 AM
The Scottish one could be Cyndi. For me the first one sounds like Seren, but I will say the last one for Seren, because I am putting Brian for the first one. I'll guess you, Suz for the twitching one, mostly because of the formatting. I'll guess jag for the owl poem. Brian has me stumped. If he has one here, I think it's an unusual style for him. Maybe he could be the Twitching one, but I'll have to guess the first one for him. I'll guess mandy for the Driving one, though the bottom footnote reminded me of something Cyndi would say too. So to sum up: first, Brian/2nd Cyndi/3rd -Jag/ 4th -Cyndi/ 5th - Suz/ 6th Seren. (though I am unsure on a few of them!)

1. Brian. 3. Jag. 5. Suz. 6. Seren. You have Cyndi down twice and no Mandy in your final line up. This is very impressive Andrea. You certainly know the poets and read their work with attention. Love, Su
