Excerpts from a Cats Diary

Day 983 of my captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I  could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of  'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly.  I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

It's only paranoid if you're wrong! I vote Cat!

My son has 2 dogs and a cat and my daughter has a cat and my oldest son has a dog. I love all four of them. I don't believe I could make a choice. I had a parakeet once. He was delicious. Just joking. Gotta love it. Vince

haha very cute blog, Debbie :D hmmm I actually like them both-- they actually appeal to me in different ways; both can be Very affectionate, cats seem to be more selective for me? but what a feeling if you win them over--I remember as a kid we had cats and I loved those cats, especially Fluffy (oh shucks, I miss that cat!) & dogs are adorable as well but a wee bit (?! lol?!!) high maintenance-- eep, we had shih-tzus (gosh, a cat named Fluffy and shih tzu dogs, I am sounding like such a softie, haha) but I also loved our Welsh Corgi...

Cats maybe don't need you if you let them run free but if you feed them, I'd say they need you [no thumbs, can't open bags or cans LOL] and they DO interact, they can be very vocal telling you what they want, to go out to come in...that food tastes like POO! [they will try to show you this by pretending to bury the distasteful food] They also love affection and will actually sleep on their owners heads sometimes [as an energetic healer a cat is said to absorb and remodulate imbalanced energy]

A cat requires no maintenance and cats do not participate in two way relationships: everything is about them. I've had both. I'm a dog person, for sure. Good Luck.

I am definitely a Dachshund!!! :0) I used to have two cats: Sophie - the orphan I found above an office wall and Thomas T. Plump the tomcat wholoves to eat. He is the home body. Thomas had to teach Sophie how to groom herslf etcas she had no mommy to show her how to. Sophie wa the killer bringing torn apart bodies of birds and mice :( Yuck! She got it in the end as we have coyotes around here. I love Thomas T. Plump but he is a long haired and my nose itches all th time :( I am a Dacshund, weinny dogie. Period!!!

I love them both, Can no longer have a dog now that I live in an apartment , when I was younger and the kids were young, we always had both, usually one dog and three cats, I have read the above before in an e-mail and find though it is hilarious , it is also very accurate. Since my cat died I now just have the birds , and I think that is all I want till I retire

Cats and Dogs have always been part of our family....and you have nailed the above description!! But as much as I have loved our dogs over the years (quite a number of them) I have always loved the sassy "attitude" of our cats! They have spunk and a chip on their shoulders, which makes me laugh and is rather endearing!

I am thinking about a time when I might want a permanant 2 year old baby [ie a dog] and I do not seem to want unconditional love LOL I want more of an equal who loves me, I think that's why I like cats better!

Dogs are companion animals and cats are not. If you are looking for a companion,go to a rescue group or shelter and find a dog that has been surrendered due to owner illness/death/divorce/family not realizing puppies grow u/, and rescue a dog that is 4 to 6 years old and house trained. They will be calmer. Dogs require 2 walks a day and a "job" to do, but offer unconditional love. I have had both dogs and cats all my life, and there is nothing so soul satisfying as the relationship with your dog. Cats: not so much.

That's a riot, Deb! I've always thought of myself as a "cat" person, but after reading this, maybe I'd be happier if I were a "dog" person. Hysterical! Thanks for the laugh. Love, Carolyn

Yes I think perhaps a dog does need more care though? What do you think?
