Chetta is the nom de plume of Deborah Guenther Beachboard a poet writing since 1992. Her poetry has been published in Modern Haiku, Sijo West, Amaze: The Cinquain Journal, Short Stuff, Twilight Ending and numerous other online and in print journals.

After taking a 10 year hiatus from writing (for reasons not interesting enough to share) Chetta returned to writing, most recently having poetry published in Periwinkle Pelican, Puddick, Stygian Press, Snoozine, and Sweet Smell.

Chetta makes her home in the Adna Valley in southwest Washington in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

LIFE IS SHORT

It's not
as if you have
a choice in the matter,
but if you leave a poem
it's enough.

About that toolbox...

(A comment to Florin Lacatus "The Impossibe Manual..." because PS would not let me post directly on his blog.).

A poet can write "Julie, I love you so much!" Or, a poet can write "But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun." ~Shakespeare

A toolbox is a useful thing. Discovering how to use the tools in that box might just be the difference between mediocre and excellent.

~Chetta

Me? I'm just a simple storyteller. I don't claim to be highly educated nor do I use fancy words and/or metaphors (often). My poetry and stories go straight to the mind and heart which hopefully produces an emotional response in the reader. Sometimes you hit. Sometimes you miss. And sometimes you knock it out of the park. That's all I'm interested in

The toolbox is like a secret handshake - half the pleasure is to mull over the content of the poem, and it helps if you are familiar with the style and metaphors referenced by the poet. There is (to my mind) no satisfaction in just skimming over it - it is like chocolate not correctly paired with your favourite wine. :)

Knowing HOW to say things distinguishes us from regular folks who don't use or appreciate poetry!
