Janis Thompson is a retired educator whose career involved teaching high school English, being a reading specialist and an administrator.   She is a mother and a grandmother of two who has been writing poetry since childhood.  Janis has a Bachelor's Degree from Juniata College and a Master's from Johns Hopkins University.  She enjoys watching vintage movies.

Contest Description

What to Submit?

1 original, poem on the theme of ............A Place Called Beautiful.....it can be a country, state, city, somewhere you once visited or just a special spot in your home you admire. Entries will be judged on the use of imagery and poetic devices like metaphor and personification to make your special place come alive.  34 line maximum, 6 lines minimum with short forms of poetry not acceptable.  You may use the contest name to title your poem or create your own title. You may refer to my poem, A Place Called Beautiful.   No names please.
