Never would I have thought I would start writing at 73 years of age. I have thoroughly enjoyed my voyage into the written spirituality of poetry and am thankful for the opportunity.  In my seven years here I have met many new and wonderful persons. Having them accept me as a friend has been a moving experience.

A Neat Card Trick

Blog Posted by Charles Henderson: 12/22/2015 8:33:00 PM

Arbitrarily deal out 21 cards in three verticle rows.  (one to the first row, one to the second row then one to the third row) Then deal the rest of the  cards in that same order.  That is 7 cards to the row.  Have your audience (1 person) pick any card by looking, but do not tell you.  They keep it to themselves.  Ask them which row it is in. Whichever row they indicate do not pick it up first.  Pick one of the other two rows, by taking the top card and pulling the row down to the bottom in a pile. so thetop card is on the bottom of the stack.  Do the same to the the row containing the card and then do the last row.  Do the sequence three times.  You will note to yourself the card in the center of the center row. That is the object card.  (The object card should be the 11th card from either the first card in row 1  or from the last card at the bottom of row 3. It is in the middle of the 21 cards.   Row two must always go between 1 and 3 so when dealt it will be the middle card on the center row, Ie. the eleventh card from end of row 3 .  Slowly turn up and deal the cards, counting.  Note the 11th card, but say nothing.  Then deal maybe 2 more cards and say " I'll bet you that the next card I touch will be your card.  The audience will think you mean in the deck, so they will be adament that you are wrong.  Then you reach down on the pile of discards and pick up the object card.  This is a neat trick and hard for young people to catch on to.  (some adults too)  It does take a little practice.   No matter where the object card lies in the three piles, after the third deal it will always be the 11 th card from card 1 of the first row and the 11th  card from the bottom card on row 3. More precisely it is situate dead center of the 21 cards on the table.
