A Flat Tire and a Woman

i drove down
through the parking lot
to take in the art
the act
the crime
a sliced tire
during a movie
i expected anger
madness
rage
i expected
my own emotions
to seep out of their bones
i expected curses
maybe even a tear
i expected murder
but what i got was
nothing
he was leaned up
against all that junk
a heap of machine
and he held her
in his arms
warm
like icicles melting
she had long legs
beautiful
and they saw me
and their eyes
glazed over
emotionless
they leaned there
as if waiting
for a miracle
for god himself
for nothing
and i thought to myself
leaving them there
how the hell did he get her?
how the hell
indeed
as i drove home alone
upon four good tires.

Letter To a Love

what do i ask of you?
not your life
not you breath
not your goldfish
not your shoes, dress, hair
not your understanding
not your lip stick smears
not your poems
not your voice
not your eyes ears nose
not your house
not your sun star moon
not your time
not your name, address, place of birth
not your pantyhose
not your tampons
not your perfume
not your smile frown eyebrows
not your bed
not your howling growling moaning
not your laughter
not your crying
not your whispers
not your secrets
not your hangovers
not your hands feet belly button
not your couch
not your touch
not your taste
what do i ask of you?
simply
your
presence

A Worm Named

there is a worm in my brain
he is eating away upon the memories
of yesterday and hopes for
tomorrow
i have named him
but his name is his alone
he is my friend and my pet
sometimes i dress him up
a tuxedo a top hat
and we hit the town
smoking only the finest
cigars
and drinking the finest
drinks
and we get drunk together
when morning hits
we stumble through the door
we vomit
we laugh
then we sleep
he is safe in there
gnawing and chewing
upon my brain
and i am happy
and he is happy
and we
are happy
together
margarita and i

There Is Too Much Time

there is only time
when all has become wasted
spent
old
there is only time
as the women leave
as the phone dies
as children laugh outside
as the cigarette fades away
there is only time
too much time
as the sun hangs lifeless
as the second hand moves
as the minute hand refuses to move
as another cigarette fades away
there is only time
and a man could cry
and a man could sleep
and a man could drink
and a man could die
but no
there is only time
too much time
and nothing to do

Going Home Part 1

this airport is so lonely
everyone sits alone
reading magazines
passing time
until the plane arrives
to take them away
me...?
i'm going home
where day to day
monotony
and fields of endless white
circle around
in all visible directions
maybe i'll find someone new
someone warm
but i can't hold my breath
everyone keeps reading
except for a girl
w/ big black rings
around her eyes
hair up in a bun
she tries to smile
but it's full of pain
maybe even regret
i don't know her
i may never know her
and there's a guy
wearing nice cloths
and a grandfather clock
clasp tightly around a wrist
his hand holds his face
covering his eyes
what is it he hides from the world?
or what does he not want to see?
i notice the no smoking sign
and it looks good
but even if i could
i no longer have a pack
smoked them all
while walking side by side
w/ her
past cars and trees
past moon and stars
past then and now
now,
i am left
w/ just the want
this airport is so lonely
everyone
sits
alone

Eve

and the snake said to eve
you slut now eat this apple
and eve found the snakes eyes enchanting
and his apples where big
and juicy sweet
she bit in she bit in hard
and the snake smiled
the story goes on
for many books
and god damns many souls
i am questioning my faith
right now
as is many
i am questioning my life
my death my birth
my dog my family my friends
my job my time my patience
my girl my truck my writing
my existance
i am questioning eve
the snake
and those g.d lust-filled apples
as is many
but it is futile
for everything will continue
as it always has
with no rest in sight

Silence

silence
is the moon
covered up quietly
by the lonely night.
inner peace
flows from her
dim rays of light
revealing
not exposing
who we are

The Day After

she walks alone
through the trees
by the stream
while i watch on
from a distance
drowning the remnants
of last nights fight
the liquor calls my name
calming my pain
and so i
drift
away
into
blackness
