Riding the Train

RIDING THE TRAIN

Catchin' the train to the city makes an interesting day
Peak hours all the workers going to earn their pay
Many nationalities all different in their own way
And then there's the trains always a delay

I silently watch as I sit alone
Many of them busy on their phones
One calls for a ride they're nearly home
Another rejects a call number unknown

An elderly couple sit near the doors
Shopping trundle in hand, out to the stores
One another they obviously adore
Weekly shopping to them is no chore

A young man with headphones sits down below
Tapping his feet to the radio
Looks like a student with a portfolio
Maybe Art he looks like Michelangelo

A middle aged woman above takes a seat
Dressed impeccably she's extremely neat
As she sits you can see her physique
Very fit but oh so petite

A group of young students are making a noise
Some other passengers it really annoys
One of them says 'Can you be quiet please Boys'
But they just get worse and increase their voice

A mum with a pram and a child in tow
Pointing through the doors at the arched rainbow
The child sits on a seat looking out the window
Mum's in a hurry but the trains' on a go slow

The end of the day and I'm heading home
A busker at the station plays his xylophone
The station manager speaks into a speaker phone
It's amazing the walks of life a train ride has shown!

This Is Why I Need You Lord

So much negativity surrounds us today
People living their lives in fear
Homeless seeking shelter somewhere safe
Please Lord show me that you care
Unemployment is rising people are losing their jobs
Crime rates on a never before seen high
Health is on the decline with so many sick
I really need you lord and this is why
People are starving malnutrition's more common
The world is suffering before our eyes
Show us all and lead the way
Please help the ill before any more dies
Such a happier place this world could be
If everyone just had a warm bed to sleep
Lets put a smile upon the faces of all
Please Lord their dignity let them keep

A True Friend

True friends these days are really hard to find
No one does anything for anyone, ulterior motive on their mind
Help because you want to just to be kind
Not because you feel you can't decline

A true friend can say anything without fear
And a true friend won't be offended by what you share
A true friend your soul to them you can bare
And a true friend you can turn to when shedding a tear

So why is finding this true friend such a hard task?
And if it's so hard will the friendship really last?
Will it be worth the wait and as friends we'll have a blast?
What if I have missed them and my true friends' already passed?

Like a soul mate I believe you have one true friend in life
Someone who's always there in good and in strife
Someone to give and receive some advice
Someone who is true and without a price!

What Goes Up Must Come Down

The grass is green and the sky is blue
The sun is hot and the rain wets you
As the sun rises the day is new
This we're told but is it true?
Ice is cold and fire is hot
Green is for go and red is for stop
Down is below and up is on top
We're told they're opposites but can they swap?
Lightening we can see and thunder we can hear
Distance is faraway and close is very near
Quickly looking is a glance but any longer is a stare
How do we know what to accept and what to fear?
How do we know what to choose?
Have we told all this just to confuse?
Do we have to believe or can we refuse?
I have a feeling they're just one persons' views
Time goes by when the clock is wound
It's not missing when it's been found
If you can turn a smile into a frown
Then what goes up must come down

Not Just Four Walls

Four walls form the framework
Of what constitutes a room
And from within these confines
You can make your life bloom
These four walls give you security
From harm they keep you safe
Within the room you feel wrapped
And gain a sense of faith
So much there is this room can encourage
Thoughts and ideas with infinite possibilities
Leaving the space of the room and venturing out
Enables the chance to display ones' capabilities
Within the four walls so much growth can take place
So many things you can learn
It is said that knowledge is power
And with that power your life you can turn
Think not of your surroundings
As only four straight walls
Instead embrace and feel their support
Without them we'd struggle and fall

Naked

Without adornments it seems quite bare
Exposed as an item and seen very clear
Without protection some are seen vulnerable
Living in fear never comfortable
Without comment it is factual truth
Investigated thoroughly by many a sleuth
Without devices it's unassisted vision
Raising questions of exact precision
In all of these there's simply a lack
Positively defined for it's a fact
Some people live a simple life
Happy and free without any strife
When we choose to bare it all
It's clothing off, stand proud and tall
Live but once your life as you make it
Living simple is living naked

Funny Farm Friends

One obnoxious orangutan ordered oysters
Staff sympathetically said such supplies sold
Constantly complaining confronting chasing customers
Barred because before being boisterously bold

Two timid tigers tragically trembled
While watching woeful weasels wrestle
Standing straight shaking subconsiously scared
Displaying discomfort dizzy dribbling dreadful

Three talented turkeys taught tricks
Creating courageous crazy circus clowns
Amazingly always attempting additional acts
Frolicking foolishly finally forgetting frowns

Four fabulous flamingos fixed fences
Gigantic glamorous gardens generously grew
Proud pedestrians passing praised perfection
Beautiful bouquets blissfully blended blue

Five fussy frogs found french fries
Every enchanting experience eagerly entertained
Loudly laughing licking lemon lollipops
Sharing sarcastic smirks showing shame

Element of Water

One of earths' key elements
Affects the whole environment
A requiste for vegetation to grow
Good hydration and the suns' warm glow
As seedlings precipitation is impermeable and essential
Sometimes their growth is quite experimental
Avoid at all costs crystallization
As that can cause deterioration
Earths' essential element water
Sure to invigorate and nurture

First Year With Kaylee

From sleeping through the whole night,
To cutting your first tooth to bite,

From watching you roll over,
To hearing your first word 'MUMMA',

From watching you crawl commando,
To seeing your first steps solo,

Your Nan has spent time with you nearly everyday,
And to be honest would have it no other way,

I've rocked you to sleep time after time,
Had you when you're sick giving your Mum piece of mind,

Cuddled you when you've been sad,
And told you 'No' when you've been bad,

Laughed with you when we've been playing,
Praised you when you're not misbehaving,

Just in one year you've developed at such speed,
First year milestones you've passed indeed,

Your presence is infectious you can't ignore,
Obviously an old soul you've been here before,

I think you've been sent to teach all of us,
Cause you're the perfect example of unconditional love.

Horse At the Gate

Eager to gait they were lined up at the gate
A hoarse commentator announced the favorite horse
The start pistol was fired and the race began
A roaring crowd was known at this racecourse
Time seemed like it just flew by and the race was now over
The commentator realizing he indeed was getting the flu
The crowd favorite was of course the winner
This wasn't the first time as there had been more than a few
A chance to see the winner gait up close
Racing club members were moved to gate four
A replacement arrived and the commentator was relieved
So hoarse was he his voice was no more
A day of racing is just a job for some
But to most that attend it's a great day of fun!
