Adele Kaye Poem
Can you
feel it? The crunch
beneath our feet as we
stroll along this path leading home!
Hear it?
'Tis the
leaves from the trees
all dried and withered, tired
just hanging around, fallen down!
See them?
Oh my!
Do you smell it?
C'mon, we're almost there!
Cherrywood burning, cinnamon!
Run, run!
Mama!
Give me a hug!
Oh God, that feels so good!
This is what I have been missing!
Autumn!

Adele Kaye Poem
All Hallow's Eve is quite an eery night to be out past dark
I wouldn't be caught dead taking a walk through the park
So I stayed inside my house to keep myself safe from harm
When I heard the strangest sound, I shuddered with alarm
Coming from the cellar, my eyes were focused on the door
My heart skipped a beat, a deep voice bellowed "nevermore"
Slowly the knob turned, suddenly I couldn't catch my breath
Thoughts ran wild in my mind, was this to end in my death
Fearful of demise, I closed my eyes, then covered my head
Unable to believe my ears when a most familiar voice said
"Pam! Those damn raccoons were down in the cellar again!"
I thought for a moment there I'd died and gone to heaven
Peering through these fear stricken fingers, who did I see
None other than my husband and he was laughing at me
He then peeled me off the floor, and he held me oh so tight
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it, Happy Halloween night!

Adele Kaye Poem
If only this "ice queen", who resides within my heart,
could carve an escape thru these most frozen cold walls
ridding herself of that musty sweater meant to protect her
then perhaps, one day she would thaw; but again, who am I to
say she should chance stepping out into the sun just to collapse?
Having been rendered lost, disillusioned, and stupid silly
her belief is, she's tainted and no one will ever love her again
Succinct thoughts heavy laden with unworthiness, signal clear
it is I, and I alone, who must shake these most torturous of feelings
and breathe passion, new life into the old queen's bones one last time
..... this time for myself and forevermore!
