Seeking Equality - My Spirit

Lonely days and nights of childhood spent in tears, no comfort wishing for a gentle caress, a peck aching for the tender words weary of the ignorance my heart cries for the child in me Unjust is the love that singles out a child, the rest yearn, birthed by the same as if a duty thats done and then discarded to climb, no support to be lent they wander till the end my heart cries for them where is the glory that the world sings of motherly love and care where is the justice that prevails the right of every child they sing of equality, when at home the child feels unfair oh ruthless world I beseech prithee give a care. © (12 May '15) * Honorable mention in the contestShow me your spirit' by FJ Thomas on 19 May 2015.

What the Lord Gave

The sun rests in its golden orb, shining bright dazzling the eyes
Meadows green with dew drops fresh, the cattle lazing away cries
The farmhands nap beneath the trees, the breeze caress and dies

As the curfew knells folks head home and pray
Thanking the Lord for the rewarding day
Face brimming with sheer bliss and mirth
Content they praise and sing from birth
What true happiness can be witnessed herein
For the Lord blesseth those who seek of him.

Those greedy and selfish , pine more riches
Idle days wasted, in slumber and glitches
While holding contempt for those plebeians
And are never content, contrasting agrarians
No time for Lord, who observe cadence
No more thanks for the blessings immense

Heaven doth beckon those who believe
And the rest he reckon, to try and grieve

For....
This is the day that God gave to play and he purvey
This is the day that God gave to toil and stop foil
This is the world that God gave, for men to live and pray
This is the world that God gave to care, share and stay.

What a wonderful world!!!

Breath of Love

I wander in the nature’s green, trees in rows the birds preen Like a gem glimmers the morning dew, with a precious diamond’s hue And flowers bloom as I gaze anew, eggs hatch to welcome lives in queue I can smell the wondrous earth, the distant flow of water in mirth It’s a new dawn another day thereof, wherein I sense his breath of love. As I prod on the old man smiles, he delivers milk by cycling miles Passing the farmers sweet abode, the cry of new life reaches the road A child wails by the neighbour’s door, with a sweet candy her eyes adore Roaming the street is a hound grown, pups trailing behind unknown A jocund street undreamed of, wherein I sense his breath of love. My dearest rush out sighting me afar, without whom my life is a war The tiny tots in their cradles lie, as we sing a lullaby This is the world I am part of, wherein I sense his breath of love. © (4 Feb '15) * Honourable mention in the contest 'Enter a poem #1' by Poet Destroyer

Forgive Me Ma

As I recall those lonely childhood days My heart weeps for myself drenched in tears How I yearned mama for a gentle hug from you A soft caress and a kiss to make me glow Engrossed as you were tending to my dear brother And here I deduced you never did bother The scars grew each year And estranged I felt from your care But now seeing you strain As you beckon me near My heart cries in earnest struggle And yearns to snuggle Forgive me ma for I have erred Being blind to your loving words To your implicit care Being blind to the glistening tears That uttered silent prayers Being blind to the anxious queries Masked with concern Blinded I was and you I blamed I beg your forgiveness. @ Nadiya (19 Feb '15) Placed 9th on 21 Feb 2015 in the contest 'Forgiveness' by Rob Carmack.

Florida Nature

The sun emerge from its hide, smiling bright and it glide Promising a fine stay, for those who toil by the day Oaks surround the landscape, as ferns add in to the grandeur A heron’s displaying majestic pose, the farmers toil with ardor The placid stream that flow, bearing success into the future A land that God has blessed, with serenity he suture The grassland spreading far and wide, down the country line we trod Wheels turning and a group so old, no place we haven’t rode Of sunshine state I speak to thee, its heritage and splendor bold As we turn a bend in road, of beauty that my eyes behold. We arrive at the marketplace, with stalls lining the street It’s the day of harvest, where a merry crowd will meet The stalls full and brimming, with the fresh produce Homemade things in display, of those the villagers use. Cheese, honey and pastas, that makes our mouth water Pickles, meats and soaps, are also things they cater. At night the moon peeps out, of promised passion sought And a few but lingers, to feel the cool breeze float From the cottages flow the sound of mellow laughter of happy wives and kids, who are well looked after. © Nadiya (13 Feb '15) Inspired by the Robert Butler paintings, especially “Farmers’ Harvest”.

Young Lambs In Poverty

In this dark and dreary world, the urchins forced to toil

Their body bared and tarnished, gain little sleep and boil

Tiny hands and feets famished, no love they had meet

Like young lambs for slaughter, were they forced to cheat

Sold away by father, with no heart but only greed

How my mind cries, watching this heinous deed

And sighs, its a discriminating fate unfair.

My Muse

In the solitary cell i dwell basked in the morning glory gazing through the casement bright feasting on the pulchritude eyes behold the rugged trunk flowers blooming like a shrug with each branch a story to spare abode to birds and beast alike huge as a giant with shadow spread finding solace in its calming shade my muse that creates an urge to jot to hearts content the minds plot. © Nadiya (21 Jan '15) *Won 4th place on 7 Feb 2015 in the contest 'Ekphrasis' by Rick Parise.
