A smoothie barista's a thing?
Gadzooks, Batman,
why the
hype?
Fresh fruit, yogurt:
tangy,
ripe.
Ah, perfection -
that's my
type.

A Zeno is 8/4/2/1/4/2/1/4/2/1, with rhyme abcdefdghd
Zeno made me think of xenotype: any of two or more variations of the same material from two or more different species. For splicing genes, a fancy title is in order; for blueberries and bananas, not so much!
Noob goes for a walk in a straight line
The distance from point A to B is easy
But going only half way as required
Going half the distance all the time
Is not so simple as Noob might think
Traveling from A to B means shrinking distances
Carries diminishing returns for all concerned
Noob travels for centuries and picks up speed
To reach a destination which is not there
Going faster than the speed of lightning
Can be frightening with science on your side
Numbers go up and down and sideways
With Noob who travels half as fast
And half the distance all the time
That will have to suffice for now
Points A and B turn microscopic
Soon Noob will be out of sight with them
But always in existence as predicted
In a Zeno Paradox
The departing of a beloved one
A poem about offering a eulogy to a loved one that passed away inspired by Ancient Greek Wisdom
When a most beloved one passes away
Only their kind, good deeds remain
To remind us that even if life may lead us astray
The memories of our beloved one brings us together again
As our beloved one departs for paradise
Their great legacy makes us more wise
To consider well our life’s belongings
As their thoughts permeate our soul’s shortcomings
So, let’s pray to our Supreme Lord, God the Almighty
To accompany with His love their soul that passes away
To bless them as they travel to His land of divine harmony
Wishing them ‘bon voyage’ to their journey of eternity
Always taking into deep consideration the following wise saying by Zeno of Citium (father of Stoicism): ‘In the life of an individual man, virtue is the sole good; such things as health, happiness, possessions, are of no account. Since virtue resides in the will, everything really good or bad in a man’s life depends only upon himself’.
Zeno on Vacation
- In praise of immobility
It certainly isn’t far from his room
to the ocean. A few steps. Easily
navigable, he says to himself. Not
a thing to it. On with the sandals and
away we go. The sun’s cooperative
enough. So is the sand. But wait. Hold
everything. A proof, clouds of logic
blowing in from memory. The waves
farther away now, much farther. Not
going anywhere. Ever. Statuesque. And
no way even to call his pal Heraclitus
at the Tiki Bar. No way to meet the girls.
How they got there, of course, he hasn’t
the slightest idea.
2.
Strange how the arrow of time
Bears us along upon it
Always moving towards some future
Yet,
Obedient to Zeno,
Each moment is the only world we can experience directly.
The sigh of your breath
The touch of your hand
The thought of you enduring through the day;
From these I weave the tapestry that is my world.
A kiss, a touch, a memory
These are the bricks with which we build a life,
And tell ourselves it will go on and will go on
Though in the end it is a flicker in the dark,
The dark that is the final face of God.
And still in the end it will be enough,
Because it is better to have lived and loved you
Then never to have lived at all;
Then never to have told the wind my secrets
Then never to have dreamed Perfection,
Then never to embrace my higher Self
Then never to have laughed with God
At His flawless Insanity.
Emperor of Rome, in a time of peace,
Marcus Aurelius filled with pride.
Steadfast in his stoic belief,
in virtue alone does he abide.
The school of righteous thinking,
Zeno of Citium, in three hundred B.C.
Emotionless throughout the painted stoa,
Learned philosophers for all to see.
Men of value and high status,
suppression of feelings so unknown.
From poorest slave to rich monarch,
intelligence carved from common stone.
The greatest thinkers of their time,
Cicero met his death with dignity.
Over looking a quiet golden sunset,
enjoying his last vision of divinity.
