She Could Not Pronounce Wr

She could not pronounce R’s, so Mr. Wrong was Mr. Wong.
He did not want to embarrass her, so he dressed the part
He came to meet her family, he broke out in merry song.
She knew at that moment no other fish could ever have her heart.

We need to get married, he told her. White your name on this line.
She bought a funny pencil that would make the color he had demanded.
He had no idea why it took her so long or why she continued to whine.
Not being able to say “Wr” was totally underhanded.

Brother from another mother
Fellow baseball bat slugger
Could outhit me
Could outspit me
Could outwit me
Could outdrink me
Couldn't outlive me

On Barren Land

As i now stand upin barren land
Where sins were in war permitted
& many acts of cruel sins been committed. 

A world filled with hate
What future do our children have in this fate? 
Cruel injustices on earth been done
No victories by battle truly are won.

Its through greed for power above
A governmemt thats forgot the meaning of love.
Whom sends our own men into a war
Whim dont evem know what theyre fighting for. 

I now only pray, for justice to finally pay
And our world to no longer be met
With bitterness in battles of hate.

If only wr looked after our own families& friends 
Then may we be met with a love in the message life truly depends. 
From here from the present i do solemnly vow
Not to ever again be caught up in worldy row.

Ellie Robinson

Ellie became instantly popular on Twitter, 
For her Rio entrance to the 50m butterfly, 
Which became known affectionately as, 
The “gangster entrance”, her huge jacket.  

Ellie was diagnosed in November of 2012,
Just after the London Paralympic Games, 
When she was inspired by Ellie Simmonds, 
To get into the pool and achieve ambitions -

She was diagnosed with Perthes hip disease, 
Already she had achondroplasia, dwarfism, 
But this meant she has physio every day, 
A tough routine which perhaps you adjust to. 

Her first international senior was 2015 Berlin - 
She’s only fifteen, born on 30th August 2001 -
At the Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaften, 
Where she set a WR, took 1 silver, 1 bronze. 

On the run-up to Rio at the Euros in Portugal, 
Ellie won a silver in the 50 metres butterfly S6, 
Bronzes in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle,
So in Rio she won gold butterfly, bronze free.

Aaron Moores

Aaron comes from Trowbridge in Wiltshire,
But recently moved his training to Swansea,
At London 2012 for backstroke he won silver, 
He has a learning disability, so swims S14.

In 2013 he won bronze in Montreal, Canada, 
At the IPC Swimming World Championships, 
And 2014 in the Glasgow International Meets, 
Twice he set a WR in the 100m breaststroke. 

So at Rio in the men’s S14 100 breaststroke,
Aaron collected a very well deserved gold, 
With a time of 1:06.67, second to Scott Quin, 
Although he missed a good backstroke win.

Matt Skelhon

Matt won his class of the 2008 Beijing Games, 
In para-shooting R3 10m air rifle prone mixed,
He took home to Peterborough the gold jeans, 
Because he started shooting aged 11, fixed. 

He won a silver at the London Paralympics, 
To transfix a crowd behind him in a huge mass,
Also won bronze in a different category, picks,
In the SH1 R6 5m air rifle prone mixed class.

He made a WR in Rio in the qualifying rounds,
For the final of the SH1 50m air rifle prone set,
He was born in 1984 with neat October sounds,
And by Stoke Mandeville each day he’s whet.

Sophie Thornhill

Sophie is a visually impaired para-cyclist, 
So her partner is Rachel James, the tandem, 
She’s on the Boot Out Breast Cancer team, 
And is a mastermind at Friends, all shows. 

From Poynton in Cheshire in England great, 
Sophie was born on 9th February in 1996,
And started racing as an adult in 2013’s year,
When she was initially piloted by Helen Scott. 

After Helen won three British cycling events, 
She went international she changed pilot, 
To Rachel, and they won two gold medals, 
In Newport, to miss the WR by 0.73 seconds. 

She made the Glasgow Commonwealths, 
To win the gold in the sprint, 2-0 straight, 
And at Rio Sophie, but this time with Helen, 
Won gold with a WR, in the B 1000m trial.

Maria Lyle

Maria is a Scot born in Dunbar,
With fine, neat Cerebral Palsy, 
Spastic diipelgic CP is her car:
Mum got shingles in pregnancy. 

She’s only sixteen years old, 
So goes to Dunbar Grammar, 
But a running club did her enfold, 
So with a WR she set the bar. 

At the tender age of just twelve,
At the 2012 Birmingham Games,
Maria into her vast bag did delve,
To post 32.72mins - she had aims.

Classesd as a T35 competitor, 
She took part in Fezaa’s games,
In 2014 to win 100m gold for,
Herself, to prove her best flames.

In that same year in Swansea,
At the Euros she collected, tall,
Two golds for the 100’s sea,
And for the 200 metres call.

Then 2015, the Worlds in Doha,
And she won silver for the relay,
Plus bronzes for the sprint tar,
Of the 100m and 200m way.

At Grosseto in Italy in 2016,
She swiped the boards in style,
Taking 3 golds, the total queen,
For the 100, 200 and T35-38 file.

Rio came not too soon at all,
And Maria won two bronzes,
Plus a silver for the relay’s hall,
‘Cos she’s coming up tops, is.

Sophie Kamlish

Sophie was born with an abnormal right foot, 
So when she was nine she chose amputation, 
She comes from Camden then moved to Bath, 
And now studies at Bath College Illustration. 

In 2011 she went to a Playground to Podium,
Event at Bath University because she knew
As a junior wheelchair basketball: was good,
But she preferred individual sports - she flew. 

Her debut came at the Manchester World Cup, 
In 2012 just before the 2012 Paralympic games, 
Which Sophie made and competed in the finals, 
Of the 200m, scoring a personal best in flames.

In Lyon, France, in 2013, Sophie came fourth,
In the 100m sprint, but then in the 200m sprint,
She came third, winning her very first medal,
Internationally, which raised the roof at her print.

So Sophie participated in the Euros in 2014,
Which were held in Swansea in Wales’s land,
And also accelerated in the Worlds at Doha, 
Which gave her experience to mature grand. 

In dancing Rio Sophie broke the top WR speed, 
In the heats of the 100m which were lastly held, 
On the 17th of September 2016, on the second,
Last day of these Para games eventually weld.

Sascha Kindred

Sascha Kindred OBE was born in 1997,
And is married to swimmer Nyree Lewis, 
Another gold-winning Paralympian, and,
They’re known as the “golden-couple”. 

Sascha’s CP solely affects his right side,
And he was born in Münster, Germany, 
He’s so far won thirteen Para medals, 
And swims in class S6, SM6 and SB7. 

He began in the Atlanta Paras, 1996,
Where he won silver for breaststroke, 
And then in Sydney in the year 2000,
He struck 2 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze.

In 2004 and in Athens at the Paras,
Feisty, he struck gold twice again,
And also won a bronze medal roar,
In the 4x50 metres freestyle event.

Then came 2000 in Beijing in China,
And Sascha won gold for the fifth time,
To race a time of 2:49.19, a top WR,
And also another gold and a bronze.

In London he claimed a silver spot,
With a time of 2:41.50 in the 200m,
And then in Rio he took hold of gold,
With a time of 2:38.47, 200m medley.

Kadeena Cox

Kadeena was born on 10 March 1991,
And competed in non-disabled sports, 
Until 2014 when she was diagnosed, 
With Multiple Sclerosis which swayed. 

She was a sprinter, including the 60m,
To set a WR of 11.97secs in the 100,
So changed to para-sports very fine -
To T37 sprinting and C2 track cycling.

On the approach to Rio she posted,
For the 100m a WR of 13.59 secs,
And then beat Georgina Hermitage,
Who came 2nd, by running 13.67.

So for Rio she was reclassified,
As a T38 runner, and for the T38
400m she won the gold medal,
And for the T35-38 relay, a silver.

She won bronze in the T38 100m,
And in that golden 400 set a WR -
Also competing in para-cycling,
She took the gold for the WR trial.

She was definitely a star at Rio,
And so was selected by Team GB, 
To carry the Union Jack upright, 
The night of the closing ceremony.

Paul Blake

Paul was born with cerebral palsy, 
Deprived of blood in the womb, 
And his father, also called Paul, 
Acted in Starwars, in the 1977 film.

He was born in 1990, 15 January, 
And is a most consistent runner, 
He must get fitness from his mum, 
Who was a dancer, Royal Ballet.  

He races in T36 middle distances, 
And at the London Paralympics, 
He won one silver and one bronze, 
Owning the WR for 800m and 1500.

Then in 2013 at the Worlds, Lyon,
He took a gold and a silver swiftly,
In both the 800m and in the 400m,
Where his rivals did not glance.

In 2014 at the IPC Europeans,
Which were held in Swansea,
He collected silver and bronze,
This time in the 400 and 100m.

And in 2015, Doha at the Worlds,
Paul won gold in the 800 metres,
And took silver in the 400m charge.
As the co-captain of the GB team.
