no doubt i was there
but he went into the building
he stood in front of people
my lips moved
and i heard what he said
but that cheese and pickle sandwich,
i ate that
because i was hungry
it was him who knocked on the door
and made an announcement -
and left
i'm looking up award-winning pillow sprays
feather & down
sweet dream
clutching electronics
he'll be there
and i'll be there
but elsewhere
imagining being on a 75km
walk around Windermere
are you on your own just shouting?
goodnight gorillas
in the mist

I am
a windmill, dilapidated but still rotating, creaking,
Lake Windermere off season, quiet and autumnal,
a tooth ache throbbing, an irritation, black decay inside.
I am
a foot stool unvarnished, one leg uneven, rarely used,
a penny farthing holding up traffic, out of time and season,
a pop song, mimed.
I am
an apple, red amongst a bowl of green.
I am one line short of a verse.
I am a letter unopened and unread,

It's good to look back at the year's end
to ponder on all that's now gone past
1 year ago you didn't know what's to come
but recognising it's all gone all too fast
Healthy has been so very excellent
my cancer checkups have all been great
with my PSA heading in down direction
increasing confidence for my next health date
My stammer has pulled me down again
so needing therapy for 9 months long
but light has dawned again at tunnel end
now slowly getting better like a merry song
Holidays were other real highlights
being at Crieff Hydro in January cold
then in spring to Bowness on Windermere
to Cyprus in May among sunshine gold
July came to go to Keswick lakes
enjoy convention, learn much in God's word
then at Southport for full two weeks
enjoyed the sun along the seafront
The year can't go past without thanks
for my friends of poetry so divine
faithful their encouragement so very much
this spurs me on with pen to shine

Nothingness has caught me by the throat
Tossed me to the innards of its prayer
Joan of Arc unhorsed in a nightmare
Burgundy makes offers for her coat
When we’re real and know the here and now
Do we entertain our thoughts and dare
To let perception grow in all its flair
Lamenting foreign insights we won’t know
From the mountain, I see Windermere
I see Coniston and Morecambe Bay
I see sheep and flat green fields arrayed
The shadows of the hills , the dread, the fear
Where can we be now on this our March?
The moon, the sky , the aluminium arc
The universal suffrage of the dark
The rights of strangers, the Triumphal Arch

The silence seems more friendly than before
It’s like a melody felt in my ear
This love has taken from me, my own fear
When silence was an omen with dark door
The flowers and all of nature, I adore
Gone are paranoia and its seers.
The silence seems more friendly than before
It’s like sweet silent music to my ear
I am drawn to love you more and more.
Hypnotic like the sun on Windermere
A misty air arising as we peer
The silence is more friendly than before

There is such colour all around
in this spring time of the year
looking out high above Windermere
indeed these colours are so clear
So many lovely shades out there
among the woods see many a tree
dark and light among the leaves
such beauty there for eyes to see
What contrast this does bring
against backdrop of the lake
sit and enjoy such peaceful scene
hold the moment with nice choc flake
There's so many shades of green
so special in light of midday sun
you can't begin to explain it's splendour
as it leaves you in state of stun
In light of all this beauty
how can one deny God's design?
no man could make all this
it's signature is simply divine
(Having spent a few days around Lake Windermere last year staying in hotel based up high above in the hills behind the lake itself showing such brilliant greenery in the woods and hills around the area, so gave me inspiration to write this as looking out from my room window was breathtaking and inspirational, a real poets paradise)

The waters sparkle in the sun
as the breeze lifts across the lake
the yachts settle in their berth
looking out as it stands abrake
The skies show its beauty
in the morn revealing pastel blue
as waters show it's stillness
to be as creation intended so true
The ducks sail through the waters
creating more than a little wave
birds fly in the horizon
such loveliness one needs to save
Looking high up to the hills
shows the greenery of it's landscape
words can't describe such a picture
your eyes are bewildered by it's shape
The trees across the lake
fills your view with such splendour
completes the full picture you see
summing up the creator's perfect agenda
The agenda makes all things perfect
in the eternal God's appropriate time
showing His perfect sovereign control
making all things beautifully sublime
AUTHOR NOTES: Just some thoughts on a weekend stay on Lake Windermere on England's lake district a few weeks ago waking up from my bedroom window looking across the lake.

It’s a day in April
having a sail on Lake Windermere
lovely views all around
feeling at peace and no fear
The trees and the hills
Look so very green
Reminding me it is spring
With all it’s splendour so clean
Leaving now in the afternoon
to sail back to Ambleside
the sun is out, thankfully
feeling it’s warmth like a newly wed bride
Such a relaxing day
such a joy to behold
such a pleasurable time
a moment forever told

I gently stroll along the shores
of stunning Windermere
twenty swans are gathered round
the old ramshackle pier
ahead the steamer gracefully glides
slight ripples in it's wake
the image of the fells around
reflect upon the lake
the vision trails for many a mile
a picture quite immense
superior panoramic view
stimulating every sense
blues and greens within the mere
glistening rays dancing upon
slight summer breeze to calm the heat
and carry the sweet bird song
