We all know how the poem goes,
But too many didn’t care.
Now are neighbors are facing woes,
And leaving home is something they don’t dare.
They came for those who sounded off,
Then with a difference in how they love,
Followed by those with a different god,
And so many more who thought they were above.
Prices went through the roof,
Jobless rates soared,
People’s futures went poof,
And wealth was built for the board.
This is what they voted for,
An excuse to kill the poor.
Do you know Wynken Blynken and Nod?
Claimed they had reservations with God
When we asked them for proof
They all went through the roof
Don't you think that reaction is odd?
Tho we said we would listen to more
Then they claimed there'd be dinner for four
Said they couldn't be late
Cuz God hated to wait
And would throw all their food on the floor
So the next revelation they claimed
Wynken and Blynken wouldn't be shamed
Till they saw God was hurt
They forgot the dessert
But in the end it was Nod they blamed
The corner store across the street
Was known for all its cuts of meat
But also it sold milk and bread
And other things you’d need instead.
On Friday mornings folks would flock
To sit on chairs among the stock
To hear the music on guitar
Of Uncle Junior (TV star).
The owner’s lived at my address
For more than forty years, I’d guess.
As neighbors we would nod and chat
Of Yankee games and this and that.
Today, in shock, while walking by,
An empty storefront met my eye.
I’d heard the rent went through the roof
And there before me was the proof.
Though times must change, it makes me sad
When touchstones that we’ve always had
Just disappear and are no more;
Farewell, my friendly corner store!
I went to the Dentist to pull a tooth
And patiently sat in the waiting booth.
All the kids stared at my giant bucktooth;
Needless to say they were very uncouth.
My Dentist, who only worked on us youth,
With all her might pulled out a real shark tooth.
Honest, I’m not fooling; I’ll show you proof.
It’s the size of a great whites’, that’s the truth.
When I was done, I thought it’d be a goof
To show it to my mom, whose name is Ruth.
And don’t you know it she went through the roof,
Just like when I called her, long in the tooth.
There once was a company that goofed
Proving they were not error proof
Then they continued to lie
Saying contingencies were tried
As ecological costs went through the roof
Beauty
Sometimes I think you have A.D.D.
And other times I know your jus crazy
No matter how crazy you mite get
I am always more then willing to bet
That Jehovah made you jus for me
I know your more beautiful than Eve
Jehovah mad her with his hands that were bare
When in the same room I can’t help but stare.
I really wanna call you my sweet lady
I want you to know you’re the only girl I call baby
I love you so much it’s a bizarre feeling
Every time I see you my heart jumps and hits the ceiling
One time it even went through the roof
That right there should be even more proof
That my feelings for you are oh so strong
You take away everything in life that’s wrong.
Everything feels perfect, like set in it’s proper place
But this is only when I see your adorable face.
What in the world were you thinking?
You left my heart sinking
If you had come to me
I would have heard your plea
And it would have been easier on me
Your very best friend
But in the end, you decided to take your life
You just picked up that knife
And slit your wrists
Your list of problems went through the roof
You thought nobody cared about you
But nothing could be further from the truth
You sat in your room all alone
While outside the people you hid
From were growing ever more fond of you
They were scared, not knowing what to do
You could have gone to them, they cared too
But instead you took the easy way out
You didn't scream or shout
You left the world more quietly than you entered it
Not careing about the people you left behind
Or the effect it had on them
For you to end your short life.
