As stars close their tired eyes
when darkness fades the day
they slip slowly out of sight
and cloud-shrouded yesterday's
no more in play
say goodbye to a watercolour sky
the rain washed away
O say can you see morning has broken
raising the curtain to curtail night
daily they do it that way before we've woken
and all the king's horses and all the king's men
by the crack of dawn’s early light
will pick up the pieces
and put sunup together again
as each sunrise creeping comes calling
over the window sill
lifting the fragments to rebuild morn
so a new tomorrow can keep crawling
'til it is newly reborn

I had a vision inside my head
it stirred me
and became all consuming
It was an image I could not shake
I had it there
inside me to create

wondrous varied colours~
works of art painted in
water-based dazzling hues;
whether abstract, still life,
warli * and children's art
whirling, zigzag or straight-
warming art-loving hearts.

WATERCOLOUR PICTURE
Strolling slowly in tree pergolas
Golden roofs and sunlit cupolas
Caress of evening breeze warm
Fountains with their arching form
Sunlit water in the distance -
Million silver-fish in existence
Fairytale beauty royal palace
Peterhof fills an artist’s canvas *
Hydrofoil back to city centre
Distant city seems no closer
Skimming close to giant freighter
Massive, straighter, nothing greater
Speed on skis to harbour landing
Hermitage on the Neva standing
Warm late evening summer sun
Chattering crowd ice-cream fun.
Note: * Peterhof is a very beautiful palace just south of St. Petersburg.
. It is modelled on Versailles. Today it is a museum.

Watercolour painted skies of ochre tinged with grey;
early sunset settles on a dying autumn day.
Ancient oaks resplendently release their rain of gold,
crisp leaves catch the breeze to whisper secrets yet untold.
A richly coloured tapestry breathes fragrant melodies,
suffusing notes of amber with the scent of cedar trees;
distant joyful echoes as young laughter leaves the park,
heeding grown up warnings to be home before the dark.
The last remaining sunlight lies in ripples on the lake,
slowly yielding to the surface, leaving naught for eve to take.
