Ye miss O thou man in mindless vain mirth
That every shade comes from His rainbow's range,
Ye no more than copy Nature, no change,
The picture ye paint scarce depicts thy worth,
Nor music—when His notes ye rearrange,
The mind ye use bestowed hast He at birth,
Not a miracle art thou ‘pon this Earth,
A smart machine at best and scarce so strange.
Take heed, should ye hail thy highly hung head?
Feel not so proud on thy mind's pompous powers,
Ye might have made some tallest of towers,
Not one vies with what Creation has made.
Get down from thy vainest pedestal, then,
Think, willed by whom ye wield thy will O man.

Poet’s note: The last line of this sonnet reflects what is said in the very first verse of Kena Upanishad: Kena eam patati pream manah… Willed and directed by whom is thy mind enlightened?

Cleaving to all its bustle and ado,
What trails behind is one’s own dark shadow.
O man, choke not with truth buried below,
Its fingers point to your vainest ego.
He’s no man that mutely accepts his fate
Resigns to whatso fate, whatso morrow,
A sheep in flock he’s no better to know,
In cool ash of ignorance to wallow,
A man is he defeated but by him—
O fight thy pretender, beat him hollow.

This Side of the Mirror
I feel lost within the mirror’s eyes
Those charming narcissistic pools
As vast and blue as endless skies
Glittering like two polished jewels
As I look deep within those gems
I recollect such secret woes
Held trapped inside my lover’s skin
Is such a torture none should know
Drowned deep within the vainest vice
An honest pain baptized this soul
Although it seems that dreams are nice
When unachieved they take a toll
I can not hold, my love, so dear
Or press their lips upon my own
And even, could, I hold them near
The truth remains, I am alone

The prettiest, piteous, pompous, chick,
A hideous, devious, worst than sick,
Weak but slick, sneakily obvious,
Suspicious yet ambitious, cautiously quick,
Treat yet trick, easily malicious,
Strain to obtain the mundane matter,
Faint from pain of abstaining chatter,
Blabber and flattered by factor inane,
Bloodstained arranged for the vainest ever,
Help her, pamper and slander in vain,
Dismal and fickle, her civil threshold,
A symbol, abysmal, a snivel she'll hold,
A goal for gold, a fold and dismissal,
So lethal, the pickle, a quibble is sold,
Was told in bold, but behold such evil,
Extraction then traction, conception proposed,
Compassion contraction, attraction imposed,
A ghost, foremost is posed as distraction,
Selection of actions, reaction composed,
A host at most while close to destruction.
