a blue speck of yonder eons
my cosmic charisma
in spatial silent spin
immaculate

stream strings wind in rhapsody breeze
through the topographic template
carved of rocks
the sands of time
metamorphosed
mountain peaks rise to sky
write the story of my internal turmoil
moving crust of my past in the chaos of present
the jostling outer visage

I foster diversified life
in patterned evolution
nurture unique possession
nature personified
stride of mankind scripts stark dismal story
usurps canvas of green sustenance
trips my innate balance for civilization progress
contentious

before the calamity strikes
it’s time
I get back the pristine poise
delicate in fragility
preserved for the future

Lure of mirage
in deranged dunes,
dances in
dandelion rhythm
with oasis dream,
illusion inscribed
in sane sands of time,
sliding continuum
with desiccated travail,
thirst unquenched,
stimulus sensuous,
perpetual.

Dormant despair
usurps harps of hope,
vibrato dissipates
unperceived,
wisdom shroud
unfurls crafty chimera
in life of actuality,
awareness avid,
imbibed.

Stifling shadow
anguished onyx cloud
creeps remorseless,
dissension darkness drips
opaque desolateness
on listless landscape,
mangled in
strife maelstrom,
mind sucked within
hope vortex,
umbrage pervades,
unushered.

Silver spectrum
of lines transient
in acumen cloud,
splits into colors
of radiant reverie
in optimistic prism,
sculpted.

Convoluted canvas,
carapace conjured
for contorted hideous faces,
turning in a trance
into baroque frescos,
flicker of beauty
sparkles sneaky
in conceived smile,
beholder,
                    the painter.

Premium MemberSky of Fireflies

Sunset.
Darkness quickly descends.
I feel like dancing on my large lawn.
     Astonished I admire
     the rise of fantastic fireflies.
     Such beauty usurps my breath.
Fireflies waltz in weightless wonder.
How can I not dance with them!
A sensual stance that throbs my heart
I wonder if they are nymphs or insects.
Who cares, once beauty fills the night.
Silent, silver dots fill the night with pleasant patterns.
     Ethereal elements envelop the air.
I sit down and enjoy the dreamy dance.
Until the sweet summer heat lull me down to dream.

Premium MemberStardust On Autumn Leaves

The air feels nippy as the Night stretches,
adjusting itself to fit Fall.
Silence replaces the songbirds' sweet songs;
while wailing winds
compose a dirge for Summers's death.
And in the cold of Night,
Jack Frost sprinkles stardust on Autumn leaves,
dusting the tops of deciduous trees.
And overnight, scarlet, orange, cerise, and gold
magically replace green canopies.
A shower of colored leaves
starts raining down upon the ground:
as brisk breezes strip bare the trees.
And the haunting, honking call of wild geese
echos above the barren branches,
as they migrate south to ward off Winter's wrath.
Winter approaches:
concealed amidst a flurry of snowflakes;
sterile and frigid
She usurps Autumn's crown and proceeds to reign.

 “False pride...true greed...
                    corrupt...agreed”
                                      _by Poet

Fate is a fickle force that blinds
and often messes with our minds,
to pull the rug from under us;
comes out of nowhere without fuss.

Fate alters things we'd never guess;
but this one change, I must confess
removes joy in poetic art;
usurps true talents we impart.

Fate has directed us to cheat;
AI – invented, to now meet,
the inborn talents we all share;
write poems fast- no work or care.

It uses forms correctly, while
can duplicate a poet's style.
But, using what A1 has learned-
sets a false “pride” for prize unearned.

God-given gifts to write, compose-
now must compete with AI prose.
Yet, “greed” may use this selfish pass
to earn high ratings that amass.

Will AI steer my urge to cheat?
Give me that edge to fast-compete?
No! Honestly, I won't do well-
knowing my mind's a tarnished shell.

maintaining rhyme and rhythm well;
to being fake no one can tell.

as fickle fate defines new curves
this bot intelligence now serves.

Where is this going we may ask?
Will AI govern every task?
Will fate, our talents kill, dispel-
to leave each mind an empty shell?

Premium MemberThe Cardinal and the Rose

Bright red bouquet of cheeks, a ruddy sweet.
Strawberry twist, like licorice - a treat.

The cardinal, robust. The rose blossom -
Its warm inviting blaze-fireball, awesome.

Like Winter dove - white rose in depth of snow.
A passion flies - red ribbon wings aglow.

Immersion of soaring petals and chirps -
A radiant consolation usurps.

Exposed in palms of Christ’s pierced hands.
A pair of souls present o’er grieving lands.

Bird In Hand

Money for today
but not for tomorrow
Bees in the bonnet
cows in the barn

Poverty lessens
the weight of ambition
Our wishes and dreams
back burner to warm

Love for today
but not for tomorrow
Feelings with shelf lives
 spoiled by date

The moment usurps
each hour an orphan
Whose bird in the hand
—neither early nor late

False Liberal

the false liberal
a profiteer
takes advantage of good and vice
wants to profit from our sacrifice...
Does not llove life sucks it up,
does not love humanity
explores it...
Is a pariah,
a parasite
between usury and theft
he exits,
to usurps and boasts
with the fruit of sin...!

Premium MemberA Holiday Tale

A commoner King usurps the crown
Marries a blueblood of royal renown
Drunk as can be, in an imperial mood
Orders the Queen to appear stark nude
Before his commoner friends, no less
She refuses, of course, precipitating a mess

The King has the Queen killed
Then sobers up and isn't too thrilled
At the loss of great beauty
   For just doing his duty
To ensure that every man is king of his castle
Not subject to wifely disobedience or hassle

So, he holds a beauty contest, and the girl who won
Won't tell her real name, who she is, where she's from
'Til the day she tells the King that his right-hand man
Is plotting to kill her, her family and all Jews in all lands

Wicked Haman is hanged, and the Jews skirt disaster
The Holiday of Purim's today ~ May we never outlast her

According to Jewish tradition, the Coming of the
Messiah will cancel all Jewish festivals---except Purim.

Peace In War

the war is waged,
around me and within me,
the flavor filtered in the air, lilac,
battle lines drawn, us and them,
no middle ground,
in bloom at the fringe of a field of wild flowers, lilac,
salvos cease, aggressions abate,
as the priority of meadow usurps the importance of upheaval,
the flowers bloom.

Premium MemberAutumn's Aria

Autumn's Aria

As crisp chill usurps the summer air
Autumn flirts with every colored tree
Coaxing with musical wind so fair...
Fall leaves dance to death quite willingly,
Spin in pirouettes so wild and free.

As leaves with stunning colors now rest
In a quilt to warm the earth below,
These jewels arrayed to look their best
Add such pleasure to sweet autumn's glow
In the glory that her gifts bestow.

Halloween will share with so much fun
Kids adorned in costumes...scary, sweet,
As the full moon's glow replaces sun
From door to door they will trick or treat;
Hear their laughter echo down the street.

Rain rendezvous with wind's whistling choir;
Joins in song as geese take southern flight
In silhouette of harvest sunset's fire.
Pumpkins mirror moon's enchanting light
'Till dawn displays pristine hoarfrost bright.

Premium MemberBlank

Feel of blank paper
No words to write down
So much like a clown
Odd as a stranger

Await words to write
Nothing comes around
Blank mind usurps ground
No secrets to cite

Try to flavour dodge
Nothing to reveal
Empty blankness wills
Nothing yet to forge

Blank as blank may be
Word bank cannot latch
Dumb touch does not sketch
Empty that you see

Feel the dry patch here
Blank and bleak with nought
String empty word thought
Blank fits most sincere

Sunrise

Sunrise
Night surrenders
Morning’s first light renews
Robin’s song usurps crickets’ choir
Cool wet dew of night still glistens; insolent
Lurid terror bows to sun’s glow
Coffee’s odor beckons
Slumber subsides
