i give her a hug as she shows me her degree
i reward her with encouragement and a chocolate shake
so many of those close to us tried with everything in them to bring her down
yet she kept her eyes locked on the goal and the work it included
i then present her with a ticket for a caribbean cruise for seven days and seven nights
her tears showed me all the gratitude i needed to see
no words were necessary
now if i had the power, i would tackle the devil hard and put a bullet through his head
then again, that is not the kind of man i was made to be in God's eyes
in her own quiet way, she allows her success to be her publicist
caring for those who care for her, she presents myself and others with a special gift of her own
it is a token with the word APPRECIATION in all caps engraved on it
we all say she did not have to
she expresses the contrary
here stare lets silences us gracefully in understanding
the vibe now festive, we celebrate a deserved individual who made it....
refreshed and reborn
through ocean breeze upliftment
energy refilled
you have taken over my heart and my soul
i have taken your hand, and we are now on a roll
the places we have been inspires us to see more
the attractions that we have seen makes want to go further and explore
i realize now that i have been suspended in poor choices and lost
for the rips in my life that i made i have surely paid the cost
you reminded me that i can, i will, and i matter
you picked me up from the debris and made me clean up the splatter
when i finally looked up and paid attention i woke up with a start
now in silence i pray that life will not tear us apart
if it ever comes to that, for my renewal i have you to thank
for it is through your guidance that have risen again in rank
beef ribs, baked beans, and baby croissants drenched in butter
skewered shrimp, corn on the cob, and a loaded baked potato drenched in butter
baked chicken, bacon shells and cheese, and a taco salad with a dollop of sour cream
for dessert, two scoops of pecan praline ice cream on a freshly made waffle cone
give me about five essential oldies on my mind....let me see.....

you see, simplicity to me
is like making a wish under the apple tree
the heat in the shade does not matter
if the coolness of the day's feeling makes you yourself feel gladder
even if rain decides to fall,
being totally drenched will not halt your joy at all
for it is the love of yourself within you that takes the lead
and the relaxing rhythm of a natural prosperity that is similar to your noble steed
bubbles uplift me
when i am at my worst place
and soothes the motion
