Unlit Candles

We bide our time upon the cusp
Twixt what may be and surely must
From evenings hush till morning hours
Begging chase through moon lit bowers
Where gleans the will in blissful trance
And leads the way in halting dance
To just beyond what grasp may reach
Where barely recalled memories teach
Tween what is now and might have been
To tease the eye with promised gleam
With silent whispers barely heard
That nary leash the fleeting word
But call to mind the long lost plight
That dreams and hopes in lofty flight
Might grant surcease on windswept wings
With unbought time and unsought things

An Unlit Light

The night fell away
dousing its own darkness,
a weak dawning light
hovered hesitantly,
over its scant trembling edge.

Mist was not mist
but an erasing smear,
the sky was a half-closed eye.

Those who watched,
wondered if the new would stay old,
or not lift itself at all
from the crib or the grave,
but fade away in its own blooming.

For a long haze-tricked time
we walked in the wrong shoes,
as a dim twilit world
struggled silently to picture itself.

"The light of the world.”

Those who carry out the Great Commission
Are 'oft mistaken in their hopeful persuasion
That truth once spoken will ignite faith outright.
Yet, ‘tis the unlit candle must come to the light.

Premium MemberUnlit Room

Though clusters of stardust explode like fire-glow,
I wail. And with your tomb resting a hundred miles
Beyond our unlit abode... there is no warm room
For me in every rosy nightfall, sparkling –
As my tear-blots and very veins still contain you.

The Unlit Road

Let explorers go where they will,
l have discovered my paradise in thee,
New worlds do not me, with interest fill
For you have set my roaming spirit free,

Of distant lands I dream no longer,
And I cannot think of elsewhere being,
As my passion grows, the bonds get stronger,
your presence blesses me with seeing.

You light up the road, I now must follow,
Before you were there, the road was dim,
But anywhere, without you, would be Hollow
And parting, be it but an hour, is merely an interim.

Unlit Dreamscape

Her eyes look like diamonds
against black holes in the sky--

I am recounting
my random decisions,

and... resting my mind.

I've reached the secret
in this
warm,
unlit
dreamscape.

Martyrs shine bright
in the milky moonlight...

as laughter's echo
rides off
on a
faraway breeze.

Unlit and Muted

A ripple, then a bubble,

     sparkling in the light,

          swaying to the sound;

I was there, I was told,

     blinking in the light,

          frightened by the sound;

I am here, I can tell,

     guided by the light,

          eased by the sound;

I'll be there, no need to tell,

     blinded by the light,

          stunned by the sound;

And in the unlit here

     and the muted now,

          I surely won't be around.
